Summary
Elias hires a monster to work in the archives. One small decision that shouldn't make much of a difference.
Until someone's putting googly eyes over everything in the Institute, Melanie's having pizza parties to save the almost-life of a manifestation of the Stranger, Sasha's writing off payments for illegal phone hacks as a work expense, and Tim's trying to figure out how many helium balloons one needs to fill the boss' office with in order to get fired.
Oh yeah, and they still need to save the world.

Summary
“You’d do anything for her,” he blurts out. Internally, he cringes at the words. He sounds like Jon – which is probably why Tonner doesn’t reply. That, or she just thinks the words themselves are stupid, which is fair. He does too.
Tim rubs the back of his neck. “I used to be like that.”

Summary
“When I was with those people, I felt more like myself than I have in… in I don’t know how long. I felt present, and solid, there to help until they were out of danger and I could relax. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
“I’m not saying it is.” She wasn’t gentle, no, but Basira was always steady. “I just don’t know if it’s a good thing, either.”
Or, in which Tim learns how much a life is worth, and how much an undeath costs.

Elsewhere, something that was once a woman named Gertrude Robinson cackles with a laugh that sounds like a headache. Elsewhere, YouTube star Melanie King opens a bright yellow door. Elsewhere, the back page of a book belongs to a woman named Jude Perry. Elsewhere, Oliver Banks is consumed by the Hive. Elsewhere, Gerard Keay burns down his mother’s house. Elsewhere-
