Summary
A series of missing scenes and a partial rewrite; to eventually ask the question: what is worse, suffering or death? (among other stuff)
If I have to summarise, the story's the katabasis of one soul and the anabasis of fwo.
(can i beg each passerby to please write something for our erebus surgeons tag... ive read everything, sometimes twice or thrice, it's getting pathetic now)

Summary
Jopson tells him that James visited, when he was drying out. Francis remembers a hand on his forehead, through the haze, and the sound of James’s voice.
If James catches him staring, he says nothing. His own gaze is unfocused somewhere in the middle distance. The circles under his eyes are pronounced, and James looks like he hasn’t slept in days. Francis is worried about him.
Le Vesconte had come over from Erebus before the meeting, wringing his hands together and speaking in hushed tones. The lieutenant is worried about James as well. He doesn’t eat, he doesn’t sleep– Le Vesconte had found him standing on deck without a coat one night.
James is consumed by guilt after Carnevale. Francis is worried and confronts him about it.

Summary
Being this close to Jopson, it is impossible for her to miss the widening of those blue-green eyes, or the sharp inhale through her fine nose.
"I have never found you lacking, Ms Jopson. Neither in our professional - or personal - interactions."
Ms Jopson smiles, and reaches up to tug at Evelyn's thick plait.
"In that case, come along lieutenant, I have need of you in my cabin."

“I don’t know,” he says.
“Have you told him?
Tommy shakes his head. “Can’t.”
