'Ever since you were born, barely 15 minutes apart, you and Wei Ying had been inseparable. The loss of your parents and subsequent adoption by Jiang Fengmian had only made that worse. There was no way he was going to Gusu for three whole months without you. So, you disguised yourself as a boy. It was fairly easy, you and Wei Ying had always looked strikingly similar and now, the only noticeable difference was the way you wore navy blue where he wore red.
“And you are...?” Lan Xichen asked the group.
Bowing, Jiang Cheng, Wei Ying and you answered.

Yu-furen was never kind to Wei Wuxian, not when he first came to live at Lianhua Wu at the tender age of nine and definitely not when it had been three years of him having to put up with everything that YunmengJiang Sect has to offer.
The thing is, Wei Wuxian is not as stupid as Yu-furen screams all day long nor is he as desperately in need of a home as Uncle Jiang and shijie seem to think. After all, he has lived four years of his early life on the streets and he had started to get used to it before Jiang shushu and his empty promises entered his life so he would do just fine if he had to stay in the streets a little longer.
Especially with how the Jiang family treats him, he is seconding guessing his choice of agreeing to some home with Jiang shushu. Sometimes he even thinks if this really was the place his parents wanted him to grow up at or was it just Jiang shushu...
He can also see, feel that Lianhua Wu is not home. Never was, never would be.
And so, when someone offers to take him away from his home, he is surprised at how easily he can agree.
