Ranboo, rookie Jaeger pilot, loses his partner in battle but is insistent on staying on as a pilot, just by himself. The higher ups, stumped, send him to the only living person who has survived multiple events of, and continues, to solo pilot: Eret, lone Jaeger pilot of Mark III Jaeger 'Eternal'.
Ranboo will learn how to solo pilot, even if his new instructor is a bit dotty.
