Summary
Cloud has been plagued by an illness ever since puberty, and it interferes with his life in many ways, relegating him to working as a cashier at a gas station just outside of the small mountain town of Nibelheim; nothing more than a stop along the side of the road. It's a small town, the type where everyone knows one another. And Cloud trudges through life, avoiding people as his mother once told him to do, especially doctors. And things are okay, he's doing okay, he's managing his chronic illness and living a decent life. That is, until a group of mysterious men buy the old estate in the isolated woods outside of town. Then, everything suddenly changes the next time he gets sick, and he's exposed to a world he thought was fiction.

Some relationships can change or grow over time. Nothing is really stagnant. It is something that Tifa knows very well, and after all of the adventures she's had with her friends in Gaia, she finds herself alone. But that didn't bother her at all, oddly enough.
And Tifa takes advantage of that by traveling around Rieze Maxia with only her team for company.
Unfortunately for her, that all comes to an end in the form of Reno and Rude. Then all of a sudden, she gets thrown into a multitude of different activities and miniature adventures with a few others that turn their somewhat-leisurely lives upside down—but not really, and at the same time, yes really because of a certain old enemy of hers.
Goddamnit!
If there was only an easier way for her to hide or run away from Rufus Shinra, who, for one reason or another, decided to take an interest in little ol' her. She already has enough things on her plate to deal with, and she didn't need whatever the hell he wanted thrown on top of that either. Seriously, she just wanted to live a peaceful life for once. Is that really too much to ask for?

Cloud's Dad – MIA, dead or an alien from the Planet Zog? How did Zack and Angeal first meet? AWOL Turks of Before Crisis, where are you? And Kunsel. Just ... Kunsel as a whole. Who is he, where did he go, how the hell did he know so much and why didn't he become a super-villain because of it? Kunsel vexes me greatly).
Give it a chance to make sense and it will.

Rufus insists on flying to the top of Shinra HQ for his inauguration as President because apparently he's too good to use the front door like everyone else - also Avalanche might still be shooting missiles at the front door, so there is that. But it's possible Avalanche is just lobbing grenades and firing rockets to celebrate his promotion with him because they also left him the most amazing inauguration gift on the rooftop: his very own SOLDIER, Cloud Strife.
Rufus has no idea how they knew exactly what he wanted.
OR - Rufus is reunited with Cloud after five years. Cloud doesn't remember Rufus. Rufus and Cloud have a long, philosophical discussion about how Rufus will shoot all of Cloud's friends if Cloud tries to leave. No one is happy about it.
Not as silly as it sounds.
