Summary
“Hey Collar, how’s it going?”
Raelle didn’t look up at the body leaned against the doorframe, mind focused on chewing the brown whatever she’d just drank, “Sunshine and roses, M. Haven’t ya looked outside?”
The older witch barely glanced towards the window that rattled as another sweep of mother nature’s hand buried the landscape in a handful of snow, “Couldn’t see it past your radiantly charming demeanor.”
That earned them a raised mug in salute, “Whatever I can do to keep the place bright.”
“The brass appreciates the commitment, Collar. I see a medal or two in your future.”
Raelle let the mug slip down to the edge of the desk, a bit wobbly but nothing left inside the military issue cup to worry about, “Already got one.” Her scuffed fingertips tapped the scarred circular piece of metal looped around her neck and resting against her chest, “Don’t need anymore.”
M pushed off the doorframe and took a step into the tiny office, hands finding their way into their trouser pockets, “Any word?”
A soberly grimaced smirk played at Raelle’s lips, “Nothing but that corny show they make us all listen to every year.”
Holidays from Home.
What a joke.

Summary
“You need to run.” Anacostia’s voice barely held back the quiver, “We will hold them off as long as we can, but they will come looking for you.”
“We’re not splitting up.” Abigail shook her head.
“Yes, you are.” Anacostia pinched her lips together, “If you’re not together, it will be harder to catch all of you. You need to disappear until we can fix this. The three of you together is too much of a target.” Her firm gaze landed on Raelle and flashed with an apology.
Silently begged the cadet to trust her one more time. To follow orders.
To know she never wanted this for the cadets she grew to care about.
For the one cadet she worked so hard with. The cadet she guided into a life in the military, a life Collar never wanted at the start.
A life where the group she was meant to be a part of, who was meant to be her family, were now hunting her.
(What if Scylla and Raelle never met at Fort Salem? What if they met under different circumstances? An alternate take on the Unit going on the run.)

“After what happened with your parents, how did you keep your faith in the military and their stupid, ridiculous rules? How did you keep your anger intact? How did you survive, keeping those pain to yourself?” Scylla’s voice was shaky as each question was posed.
Anacostia lets out a sigh as she leaned the left side of her body to the fireplace. “Who said I did?

“Spare me the look Collar. I didn’t drive all the way here to get stood up just because you couldn’t keep your hands to yourself,” Anacostia beats back at the blonde.
“Ramshorn-Collar,” Raelle moved a little closer to the older woman before she continued, “and how is it my fault? I was just doing my duty as an obedient wife.”
“And you perform it well, babe. Don’t worry about her. She’s just grumpy because Petra gave Sterling an assignment for a week now,” Scylla approached her wife after making sure that her appearance was work appropriate once more.

“I just feel like there’s a ‘but’ after those compliments. Like you were about to say that she bet on your house or something for the baby’s gender. Wouldn’t be the first time Raelle's drunk ass would bet on your belongings.”
“There’s no but. She has and will always be wonderful.” She lets out a long sigh before continuing. “It’s me actually. I…I lost my wedding ring.”

Summary
Penelope didn’t want to be here.
But she didn’t have much of a choice given what she had done earlier. Ever since the war with the Camarilla ended and her resurrection had been televised, she had felt more of an outsider as compared to before. Several cadets and officers blamed her for her father’s actions and almost everyone on base including her unit treated her like a disease, avoiding her like the plague.
Okay maybe she couldn’t fault them for the last one, she did nearly kill everyone on base when she was infected by the witch plague. But that wasn’t her fault either, her father had sacrificed her to the Camarilla to boost his career, what a dick.
Yet, there were those who didn’t it that way and blamed her for not stopping her father beforehand. And that warranted them to pick and start fight with her. Her unit were no help, they didn’t want to get involved with someone like her, the daughter of one of the leading members of the Camarilla even though she had killed him and the cruel doctor.

Summary
Anacostia watched the cadets, the soldiers, begin to walk away. Scatter to the winds, or the four corners of Fort Salem. Bellwether with her head held high, swagger always present since the day she first stepped foot on base. A Bellweather through and through. No longer the glory craving selfish newcomer but a leader who understood that strength came from her unit and not only from herself. Craven, more world weary, more hardened, but still a tiny skip in her step, likely making her way to Shellbark’s quarters. A young woman who Anacostia watched grow up from the wide eyed innocent and eager recruit to the smart wise seer she was always meant to be.
Her gaze drifted to the side.
Then, there was Collar and Ramshorn.
Those two.
The biggest headache she’d ever had in her entire career.

"I'm sorry I - I want to tell you the truth. I did see Porter that night. He wanted to get back together, and I didn't. And I want to tell you some other truths..." Scylla explained.
"Wh-" Raelle tried to stop her, but she knew she had to get this off of her chest.
"Don't say anything - I need to get this out of me before I freak out and shut down and run away. I like you, okay? I have feelings for you, and they're...not something I'm used to having...not something I'm used to dealing with. I'm a dodger which means no attachments because things go away...we go away. I haven't learned to get past this, but I'm trying. I don't know if I'm ever-"
Raelle stops her with a kiss - their foreheads touched as the blonde said, "I'm in this with you. We're going to figure this out together, okay? Whoever you are, whoever you were...no matter what happens, no matter what anyone else thinks...I'm with you."

Summary
The first thing Raelle noticed was the silence.
Overwhelming silence.
The kind of silence that rang in the ears and suffocated every last drop of sanity and soul out of you. That crept along your skin and dove into your veins like molten shards of ice. Terrorizing and morbid. Where one could almost hear the beating of their own heart and feel the creak of their bones.
It was so quiet.
Then, the pain started.

Summary
The weight of the flask rested heavily in her pocket.
A gift from long ago that she’d held onto for so long she couldn’t quite remember when or how she’d gotten it. Just that it fit perfectly in her back pocket and could hold enough liquor to get her through a rowdy night when she was younger and sip from during the moments she sat on the edge of her bed, only the low lamplight clicked on to illuminate the shadows on her face and creep across the lingering worry she hid from her cadets.
There was a small scratch on the bottom and the lid could get stuck sometimes. She usually kept it locked up in the small dresser in her room. A comfort that came out when needed. More a source of reprieve after long days and even longer nights of training and strategy. Of standing by Sarah’s side as the Spree continued to grow and overseeing so many young witches file through basic who would end up on the frontlines, giving everything of themselves to protect this country and their fellow sisters.
Takes place during Season 2, Episode 1.
