Fives swallows, leaning his head back on the wall again and closing his eyes. He survived some of the worst battles of the war, nearly died countless times, and exposed the Sith Lord. He shouldn't be so rattled by everything going on with Echo, which is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. As an ARC, and soon-to-be-commander, Fives should lock this down and focus on his duty—on what needs to be done.
The problem is, he doesn't know what needs to be done. High Command isn't going to send down an OPORD outlining how to get him and Echo through all this. No one's going to tell him what to do with the rest of his life. ARC training ensured Fives could improvise and think on his feet in the field, but it never prepared him for anything like this.
"I dunno," he says, barely more than a whisper.
