Ness and his friends had failed. They had failed to stop Giygas and the world became shrouded in darkness. Buzz Buzz’s prophecy had come to pass, and it seemed like all hope was lost. People had become increasingly violent, animals had taken new, terrifying forms after being lost to evil, and Ness was left to wander, searching for his friends and family.
That was three years ago. Timelines have been thrown out of whack, and that becomes ever apparent when Ness meets a boy named Lucas in his travels. It seems they’re in a similar situation. Best to team up for now, and who knows? Maybe some good will come out of this unlikely team!
After all, their loved ones are still out there in this dark, dark world. They need to find them-- and figure a way out of this cruel world of darkness.

Title explains it all. If a oneshot here warrants a warning, one will be given. I'll be writing these whenever the inspiration for them strikes me, so check back every so often if you care to!
All of these oneshots take place in an AU where all of the characters were born and live in the same timeline and version of Earth, and the time has been set to the modern day. Some character's ages are also shifted around, but not in a manner that is too drastically different from established canon.
The tags important to each chapter will be in the beginning notes of each one, so as to not create a wall of tags, which I'm aware is an annoying occurrence. However, all characters will be tagged, so as to widen the reach of the fic itself.
Also, you may have seen this fic when it had "Entirely Unrelated" in the title, rather than "Mostly Unrelated." I changed it because I've decided some of these will eventually have continuity... I'll just have to see when. -

This is a fan novelisation of the game MOTHER 2/Earthbound with my own touch, so there will be more focus on character development, and there will be a few reinterpretation of events. There will be some links to MOTHER 1/Earthbound Beginnings too, so feel free to read this, whether you're familiar with the story or not.
This is my first attempt to write fanfiction, and definitely the first time for me to start such a huge project, so feedback is deeply appreciated.

When Ness tries to move and go to a new school, with a new start, he soon realizes just how hard it is for him NOT to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. Like his new friend Claus is kinda weird, and his teacher is just REALLY mean and careless, and Lloyd, well, he reminds him way to much of Jeff. And is it just Ness, or is something crazy wrong with Claus? Ness knows somethings going on here, and he WILL get to the bottom of it, even if it means giving away that he's not just your run of the mill student.
