I wanted to create an S4 Fix-It Fic, but as Kaylee said in Firefly, "Sometimes a thing gets too broke to fix." So I am replacing it all instead. Knowing me, it will be long to fix what the (semi-homophobic) CW producers/writers of Supergirl broke so gradually.
Here, Supergirl will be the center of her own show (gasp!). Here, her sister will be empowered to find love (with actual chemistry, gasp!). Here, people will be free to be as gay/fabulous as they need to be. And the characters who are supposed to be gay will ACTUALLY be Queer As Fuck.
Since I started writing this on Feb. 19, 2020, and 100 pages later, we were in Pandemic 2020 Lockdown, the season's big bad will be Covid-19. And since I started it as if it were a regular season, I began in a mythic June (after the events in my short fic “Metropolis Pride”) and the virus cut our heroes off at the end of fall semester instead of spring. So it won't be all that accurate, but who cares? It's a SuperCorp fanfic.
So put on your black tacticals, pack your sparkly pink bowties (and other bits of interest) and let us get (eventually) to the church on time for a *SuperCorp wedding*.

Summary
A story taking place after s5e13. Shaw's & Root's separate lives in the months post Samaritan, later when they finally cross paths again, missing friends/allies and tying up some of those loose ends.
The Machine comes back after surviving the battle with Samaritan, but she is damaged. The Machine has lost all of her advanced functions, and has gone back to being limited to her original protocol, to provide relevant and irrelevant numbers. Furthermore, since the government has shut down it's surveillance program for the time being, Shaw is getting both the relevant and irrelevant numbers, but the Machine does not have the capability to communicate the differentiation to her.
The Machine did not give up on Root after the events of s5e10, and did her best to have Root revived.

You don't have to read the other works in this series to understand what's going on in this one. It's completely standalone from the rest even if one character is carried over into this.

Shaw elects to work alone. But when Root's number comes up for Shaw, she begins investigating with a most out of character hopeful attitude. Weirder still, she recieves a phone call from Root telling her simply to stop looking. Now, tasked with chasing down a ghost, Shaw admits something she doesnt very often, that she needs help from the original team machine. what's left of it, anyway
