    Summary

    This is a series of vignettes, each told from the point of view of a different female character in the Trojan War story. Some are sympathetic to Helen...others are not. Rated predominantly for language, warfare-related violence, and character death (usually referenced instead of depicted).

    This story was originally published on FFN in 2005 and I am uploading for completion and also kibbles.

    "The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep." ~Robert Frost

    -

    Rhea thought the fight was over when she handed Luke that blade. The war she fought for others was over. She was wrong.
    Now a thousand miles and a thousand years from home, all alone with just the ghost of a curse to accompany her in her travels, she will only fight for the wars she chooses.

    -

    "I promise."

    It tastes like a lie, but I know I’ll do my best to fulfill it. How am I to make the gods listen when they don’t even know who I am?

    “Don’t you see?!” Cassandra demands, grabbing Nestor by the shoulders and shaking him. Patroclus watches the show with mild interest. “There are cool kids and there are losers, there are jocks and rich kids and geeks and goths and stoners and everything in between, and what we’re about to enter is a swirling vortex of horror wherein they all intermix.”

    ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
    Or, in which Patroclus pines after Achilles, Achilles pines after Patroclus, Briseis plays matchmaker, Odysseus has bad ideas, Diomedes has worse ones, Agamemnon sucks, Menelaus can't hold down a girlfriend, and the entire school goes to war.
    "Poseidon’s gaze is a crashing wave, his frown a fierce storm. His wrath is a monster heaving itself out of the deep — dark and relentless, hungry."
    Odysseus is lost at sea. And through weaving and unweaving her shroud, Penelope tells their story, and brings her husband home.
    (Fem!Percy)
    After finally defeating Kronos, Percy had expected peace, not a flash of molten gold after which she found herself as a twelve year old girl in a village recently reduced to rubble, surrounded by a forest and Ancient Greek.
    A little too much Ancient Greek.
    (Or, Percy is flung back into the past and gets a hands-on history lesson when it comes to living during the Greek classism.)
    “But don’t you want to marry me?” he asked, enough of a lilt in his voice that he could beg off as teasing need be.
    Penelope was too sharp to be fooled by his tone. “I believe it’s my father you’ll be needing to speak with about that.”
    Or: Penelope is used to being outshone by her cousin Helen, and even Clytemnestra. Odysseus is used to having things go his way, through luck or cunning. They never realized that meeting each other would undo all of that, and themselves.
