Summary
“I think they made a mistake when I was born. Everybody says I’m a girl but I feel like a boy. We should tell everyone I’m a prince, not a princess. Then they wouldn’t say the wrong things anymore.”
“Zuzu, honey, you mustn’t say things like that.” His mother grabs his shoulder firmly.
“Why not?” She doesn’t answer for a long time, gazing at the pond before finally turning back to him, the tranquility of her face contrasting with the urgency of her grip.
“It could make people very angry.”
“Like how Father gets angry?”
“...Yes, your father would get very angry.”
“Oh. Ok.”

Summary
Prince Zuko has finally found the Avatar, but nothing seems to be going the way he thought it would. Instead of an ancient Airbender, he finds a 13-year-old boy named Aang, who claims that they already know each other, and that he's already defeated the Fire Lord, Prince Zuko's father Ozai. In an effort to gain the Avatar's trust so that Prince Zuko might convince him to turn himself in to the Fire Nation and help the prince regain his honor, he tags along with Aang and his friends on a trip to the North Pole, stopping to visit every place that Team Avatar visited "the first time."

Summary
After his duel, Zuko had fled to the Earth Kingdom where he has been living for the past 3 years, living as a farmer and a healer after being adopted by a nice Earth Kingdom family, presumed dead by the Fire Nation when disappearing while injured, giving Iroh a chance to keep Azula from staying loyal to her father. Given a chance to heal & find people who genuinely care about him with no ties or loyalty to his father, he is able to be saved from growing bitter and jaded after years of failing at a mission. Using his alias as The Blue Spirit as a healer who has learned to use firebending to heal as opposed to as a thief and assassin, he is able to influence views on firebending from both the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes as wells as firebenders themselves. He comes across the Gaang in the harbor town he has been living in, connecting with them as a healer who still remembers how to fight from what his life used to be, joining their cause before they even reach the Northern Water Tribe.
This is a series, I have posted a summary at the end of the 1st part if you don't want to read Zuko's recovery arc. I would suggest reading it, but it isn't plot heavy and I'm not here to tell you how to live your life.

Summary
After the events of War Crimes, Sokka and Zuko have escaped Zhao’s warship and are fleeing across the Earth Kingdom. As well as unfamiliar terrain, they have to navigate their shared trauma, work out where they fit into the war, and their place in each others lives.
Sokka is aware that being friends with the enemy is going to bring complications, but he probably should have guessed that being friends with Zuko in particular, was going to be a bit like dunking your head repeatedly into a bucket of angry Fire Ferrets.
Katara is also grappling with the confusion of befriending an enemy, something that doesn’t prove as difficult as she had expected with the bond of shared, furious grief bridging old wounds. (Learning a new way to look at her bending doesn't hurt either)
Azula, struggling with the Fire Lord’s mistrust, encounters a few nasty surprises and has to make some difficult decisions. Luckily, she is a great deal better at making sensible choices than her brother.
Her father may have made a slight tactical error.

Summary
An agonizing pain had seared through his skull as he dragged himself forward. His claws were replaced by the helpless pudgy fingers of a human's. His legs didn't move the way his own did as he crawled to his knees.
Faintly, he could still feel the swishing weight of his tail and the raw exposed nerve in his broken horn to the open air. This lanky form was unfit for anything Zuko was accustomed to as he forced himself to wobble to his feet, searching blindly through the rolling fog that filled the tower.
Distantly, he heard the screams of startled people as they cried out.
"It's avatar Roku!"
Zuko cocked his head, twisting around as his gaze swiveled in search of the Avatar. His right eye widened when he spotted his imposing figure standing in the doorway of the temple tower. A blue light pulsed off of him that radiated immense spirit energy.
"Roku?" Zuko croaked miserably, this human voice was uncomfortable in his fragile throat. It felt raw and smoky as he breathed the syllables past his lips. Sparks licked off his tongue as he grimaced and hissed his displeasure at the sound of more shrill human screams.

Summary
"'The fog was where I wanted to be.'" Everything is different. The pitch of his voice, his posture. The auditorium goes silent. No one can take their eyes off of him.
…He's amazing.
Zuko had to perfect the art of acting as a child to survive the horrors of his homelife. When he got older, it was only natural to take his talent to the stage for entertainment and escape.
Enter Sokka, a craftsman and set designer with a giant heart who is haunted by plenty of ghosts of his own.
A tale of trauma, disability, family, creativity, and love.

Summary
Book one ends with two major diffrences: 1. Sokka went on the mission with Hahn (it did not go well) 2. Zhao survives the North Pole and that proves unfortunate for everybody (except Zhao, obviously)
Imprisoned on Zhao’s war ship, Sokka and Zuko have to work together to survive. They are not very enthusiastic about this prospect.
And they argue.
A lot.

Summary
Spirits are interesting things, they tend to make impulsive decisions. So whoever put them in charge of soulmates needs to check their priorities. (Sokka and Zuko think so a least.) When a spirit chooses soulmates they take some of themselves and put them into those people, and they’re souls will long for the other person, wanting to be complete again. And when the pair make eye contact for the first time they almost enter a trance, they can basically see they’re souls connecting. So this definitely causes some chaos when Sokka and Zuko meet.

**Please don't let the MCD tag scare you away, there is no actual MCD, one of the main characters is presumed dead for over a year**
--
He eventually comes to stop in-front of their fountain, the one with the turtleducks, they had their first kiss in-front of this very fountain. "I need you here, you can't be dead, you can't leave me and our baby alone. She needs to know her father, she needs you!" He yells at the sky, hoping somehow Sokka will hear him. The moonlight shines down on him, he swears he can feel warmth coming from it.Uncle Iroh finds him there, it feels like an eternity later, bathed in moonlight, covered in tears and snot, clutching Sokka's ring in his hand, mumbling to himself between hiccuping cries.
Iroh crouches next to him, placing a gentle hand on Zuko's back, "I'm so sorry." He says, voice low and soft.
"Don't apologize to me, uncle, he's not d-d-dead. He cannot be dead, I would feel it i-if he was." Zuko cries.

"But-"
"No, Zuko, no buts. I came to the fire nation as an advisor but it wasn't because my dad wanted me to come, I brought it up, I offered to come because I wanted to see you. I know I should've sent a letter asking if you'd even want to see me but I was afraid you would say no."
"I would've said no if you asked." Zuko admits.
"I'm glad I didn't ask then."
