“In fact, I have never been married, and I never intend to be. Love is all very well in its way, but friendship is much higher. Indeed, I know of nothing in the world that is either nobler or rarer than a devoted friendship.” - Wilde, "The Devoted Friend"

!!!TEMPORARILY DELETED!!! I changed my mind on a couple of things. Expect the updated first chapter + more to be updated in couple of days (EDIT: feb-23-2014)
Castiel saves Dean from Hell, but instead of bringing him up to Heaven as he was ordered to do, he resurrects him the best he can: by placing his soul within a statue of Dean, a.k.a. The Happy Prince. It's not a retelling of the original Oscar Wilde tale, although it does use the same basic plotline of Castiel helping out Dean with his inability to cope with what he sees in the world, without being able to help on his own. Along the way, we figure out what makes them both end up here, on top of a hill.

Summary
"But they won’t," Dionysus said softly, and Aengus looked up at him for the first time in several minutes. Steeling himself after internally reeling from the incredible grey-green of Aengus’ eyes, Dionysus continued, "No one will have us. No one will ever have us again. The world doesn’t want us anymore, with our revelry and madness and song. Everything has to be controlled now. And no one wants to seek a higher plane of understanding in a way that doesn’t make them look better to their neighbors."
"So cynical," Aengus said softly. "Is that really what you think of our lot in life?"

Summary
A Hannibal retelling of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. Dr. Hannibal Lecter finds a young man whose anger and violent desires hide beneath a beautiful face. Will Graham confesses to him that he wishes he could remove fear, shame, regret, and the passage of time and place it elsewhere. From that moment onward, Will no longer grows old but a painting of him does. As Will explores his darkest nature, the painting becomes grotesquely affected by his actions. Part of a larger series in which classic works of Gothic literature are recast with Hannibal characters.

Summary
At the very bottom of the hidden compartment of the dispatch box of John Watson, MD, under the stack of intimate papers meant only for two people’s eyes, there is a single sheet of paper. Unlike all the others, this one is pristine; it has apparently not been touched since it was written, entirely in the distinct handwriting of Sherlock Holmes.
