Summary
Gamora shifts as they’re running to the cache of food she discovered, and Peter almost ran into a tree because he was too caught up in admiring her more animalistic form. God, she was so cool. Black fur and powerful haunches, huge and menacing, quick enough to be a monster slipping through the shadows, just a figment of the imagination out of the corner of your eye. Exactly what nightmares were made of. The embodiment of everything that scared him about the woods as a child, before he became a monster in the dark himself. He understands that the constant scrutiny in Lotus Pier must be a bit much for Lan Xichen, but his people aren’t hostile; they simply want to make sure Lan Xichen only has his best interest in heart and Jiang Cheng thought he was okay with that.
“A talk?” he repeats and dread settles in his stomach when Lan Xichen nods without the usual hint of a smile on his face. “About what?” Jiang Cheng forces himself to ask, even though deep in his heart he already knows what Lan Xichen is going to say.

It's an alternate universe in which wwx is a rogue cultivator and there's really only one childhood incident relating him and lwj, so they're essentially strangers to each other. The venerable Second Jade is entertaining suitors, these days, and approaches the Yiling Rogue for sex lessons after overhearing some people musing that fucking him would be like fucking a dead fish.
Wwx, ever adaptable, immediately claims to be an expert and rushes to find out all he can so he can 'teach' this gorgeous man. (Nie huaisang's porn comes in handy.) So it's very hot, and very sweet. They get to know each other while they're already having sex, so things are a little backwards. (Later, lwj asks for dating/romance lessons, too, so very backwards.) There is plot, misunderstandings, pining, light angst, hurt wwx. Really, it's everything you could ask for.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Lan Wangji groans.
At the same time, Wei Wuxian murmurs, “Ah.”
(In which Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji investigate a curse and get cursed instead. Everything they try to say comes out of the other person's mouth. It can only go downhill from there.)

I'm Going Out (Gonna Make A Name For Me And You)

Of course wwx doesn't just need to wander, he needs to work, and to help, and discovering all the less-esteemed letters for help to the Chief Cultivator (those that the postmaster never passed along and was just going to burn), gives him a path, and focus. Together with lwj, they plan a route to cover all calls for help, and wwx is lovingly supplied and packed and monied and sent on his way.
He works among the little people, who are very grateful, and helps in whatever ways he can, and they adore him, Hanguang Jun's Herald. So he makes friends, finds PASSELS of small-sect juniors and trains them on night-hunts, and slowly begins to recognize where the little-people troubles result from systemic fissures that lwj can address as Chief Cultivator.
Wwx is oblivious (always) but lwj's worry when he helps control the spread of a plague and then again when he's hurt by a forest spirit slowly begins to open his eyes. (No, seriously, even the random juniors who flock around him are laughing at him.)

It didn’t take Wei Wuxian long to see what he was pointing at, and as soon as he did, the smaller man turned back to face their juniors. “Cave!” he shouted across the thunder of the raindrops hitting the muddy path. “Hanguang-Jun found us a cave! We’ll stop to dry off, and head out again once the rain has stopped!” Beside him, Lan Wangji inclined his head in silent agreement. The bickering of the juniors cut out as they focused on making it the remaining short distance on the slippery ground.
They all huddled into the entrance of the cave, taking refuge from the rain, but waiting for directions before heading in.
Ouyang Zizhen ran his hand over the wall, feeling slight bumps and indents below his fingers. He brushed off the dirt, reading the characters revealed. “The lovers’ cave,” he read, shaking his head with a smile. Probably a local pair who came here occasionally. It was a bit romantic, when one thought of it. It also probably meant that the cave was safe - no lovers would hide away in a cave that contained resentful energy or other dangers.
