Naegi Makoto was not a name you heard often. Most heard the name being passed around in quiet whispers of secrecy. Most heard the name floating around in corrupt government facilities. Most saw it in the depths of the deep web. Naegi Makoto was an assassin.
He came from a long line of assassins and hitmen and was the last in his family to take up the job. His name was known well by anyone who had a reason to know it. Eventually, he was scouted out by Hope’s Peak Academy and labelled the Ultimate Assassin. For good reason too, he was the best high school assassin around.

Byakuya has never been a fighter, yet he can't help but recognize the appeal of launching himself at the boy in the reckless manner that delinquents do.
"Oh, fuck you," Byakuya spits, and for a moment, he believes that he has broken out of the diseased hive of his own mind and spoken his true thoughts. He's hit with a nauseating wave of pain again, one that forces him not only to lie back against the mattress but also to acknowledge that he hadn't been speaking his thoughts.

Hajime Hinata, an ordinary student at the prestigious Akademi high school, faces what seems to be the chance of a lifetime — he was appointed for this year's student council, a place in which comes with a number of privileges other students can only dream about.
What he, however, does not expect is that his council duties will include putting up with really strange people of various sorts, investigating possible murder cases of missing students and seeking out demons in an abandoned school room which hasn't been opened since a fateful incident from over two decades ago.

Makoto Naegi, also referred to as the Ultimate Assassin. He knew he was talented (was murdering people really a talent?) and was good at his job. He didn't expect a school such as Hope's Peak Academy to accept him into their program, however. He didn't even know they scouted assassins. Then again, he had heard all kinds of rumors about the academy from clients and when he was researching targets. Rumors that Hope's Peak definitely would not want to be revealed to the public. Despite the rumors, Makoto planned to attend.
He would just have to keep his ultimate under wraps for now.
