Summary
In the fall of 1962, Dr. Viktor Nikolaev, colleague of Dr. Sokolov, attempts to defect from the Soviet Union. The reason, the development of a revolutionary nanotechnology, created by Dr. Nikolaev, has been foreseen to be used to develop new biological weapons and super soldiers. Fleeing with the last remaining piece of evidence, Subject 74, a child no older than a year, they attempt to hide out in Afghanistan until the Cold War comes to an end. Dr. Nikolaev believes he has left no trace, but soon, word spreads that a child carries a technology that could change the course of history somewhere in the wilderness of Afghanistan. The child, now known as John Rycroft, becomes the target of military groups across the world; the most dangerous being XOF and the Russians.
