Shoto tenses ever so slightly, and Bakugo pulls his head from his pillow. Izuku opens his mouth to backtrack, but Shoto speaks before he can.
“Dabi—or Touya, I guess I should call him, gave me a call. I don’t know how he got my number,” Shoto answers, voice carefully blank. Izuku can hear the shakiness still. “It- freaked me out. He didn’t say anything that bad, he didn’t even threaten me, but I—I didn’t know what to do and didn’t want to think about it, so I set down my phone and made my way down. Bakugo was awake.”
Izuku swallows. “I’m- sorry, for asking. Kacchan let you stay for a bit?”
“The whole night, actually,” Shoto says, sounding ever-so-slightly happy to stop talking about his trainwreck of a home life. “If I’m quiet.”
“Which you’re failing at,” Bakugo grumbles.
Izuku turns to him. He wants to ask why Bakugo was awake but thinks he already knows why. It’s the same reason he and Momo stayed up so late. Nightmares. “That was really nice of you, Kacchan.”
