Skating was always meant to be enjoyed with the company of friends. That is what Reki always believed but as Langa continues to be reckless he can't help but worry that history might repeat itself while also discovering how he truly feels about the Canadian. Meanwhile, Koyomi longs to have someone her age skate by her side and finds an unexpected friend in Miya even though he worries that she might leave him one day just like all the others. “Wait-” exclaimed Langa, and reached out to grab his hand.
Reki looked at him hopefully, and whispered “Yeah?”
Langa pulled Reki toward him and wrapped his arms around him, into a tight hug. Langa felt Reki’s body pushed up against him and it was all Langa could manage right now, but he didn’t want Reki to leave looking like the Reki in the painting.He wanted him to finally be able to reach him.

Reki always felt like something was missing, always except sometime in April. The pink petals of the cherry trees filled him whole, even for a few days, even for a few hours. He held Langa's hand as they trailed around the park, searching for a good spot to lay out their picnick blanket and eat the cupcakes his mother had made. They would all join them later: his sisters, his mother, Langa's mother. No one wanted to miss the chance to laugh drowned in pink. But for now, they were alone. Reki watched as Langa's fingers ran though his hair and he clenched his fist when he tried to order a drink from a nearby food truck and used the wrong word.
Reki smiled. There was nothing about Langa he didn't find sweet.
Reki doesn't understand a lot of things, especially what being in love means. Until he does.

Langa isn't sure about a lot of things, but he knows that he wants to skate infinitely with Reki. Everything about the redhead makes him feel alive, and he would do anything to keep that chaotic sunshine in his life as long as he possibly can.

Or maybe Reki would notice how his blood pressure seemed to rise higher than the highest possible jump that Langa could attempt.

Summary
Set in the year 2099, Langa knew that his life would be different now that his father passed away.
After moving to Tokyo with his mother, Langa was fighting a losing battle with depression. In an attempt to ease his pain, he wandered into the unfamiliar city at 3 am and found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Unbeknownst to the world, there was a certain group of people who seemed to disagree; Langa was in the right place at the right time, and that’s what landed him hundreds of metres underground, presumably never to be seen again.
No one could’ve prepared him for how different his life would turn out to be. No one other than Reki ‘Red’ Kyan, ruler of the Underground Carnival.

He should have been screaming for joy, Langa had done it, he had beaten Joe, one of the best racers in S, but Reki couldn't seem to forget that Langa's next race could end up being against Adam, and he knew that his friend likely would never stop until he had beaten him, even if he got hurt along the way. Reki couldn't stand by on the sidelines while Langa pushed himself to these unimaginable heights. He couldn't watch while Langa maimed himself trying to compete with people way outside his league.
It was in that moment that Reki realized he couldn't be the supportive friend on the sidelines. There was only one thing he could do.
He left.
In the aftermath of Langa's race against Joe, Reki realizes he can't support Langa's dangerous habit. So he decides to leave skateboarding, and Okinawa for good.

After finally deciding to move on from his POS father, Reki and his family pack up and move to Canada. A country filled with rainbows and interesting kids and a depressed ex-snowboarder everyone warns Reki not to get involved with. But with even skateboarding getting a little lonely, Reki decides that it's in his best interest to take up snowboarding with the skittish blue haired boy. And for better or for worse, his life is turned upside down.
As they grapple with their own traumas at the same time, both boys realize they got far more than they originally bargained for.
