In 2013, when Gemma T. Leslieʼs final book of the Simon Snow Series was ought to be put out, Cath tried herself to give answers to all of the questions still left unsaid and to elaborate her own final chapter for her hero.
Flash forward to 2021, in a parallel universe, here I am trying myself to do what Cath wanted to. (Only, I am real and Rainbow Rowell is too.)
Simon Snow, The Ex Chosen One, The Blue-Eyes-Bronze-Curls-Leather-Wings-Anxiety Boy, and his dead handsome boyfriend are coming back to England after their "trip" to America.
Things have changed and stayed the exact same way they were in America, and now itʼs up to Simon, Baz and their friends (some new, some old) to sort it all out. Will The Ex Chosen One save the day, again? Will Baz’s quest for his identity lead to the hoped conclusion? What’s Shepard’s role in this? Can Agatha and Penny see their worth, in the end?

Dev finally pulls his arm back and nudges me until I turn toward the door, where partygoers are meandering in and out. “Next bloke that walks through that door, you’re going to talk to him. And, with any luck, by the end of the night you’ll have him in bed.”
I’m trying to find a comeback, but then another bloke does walk through the door, and all of my thoughts stop in their tracks.
Fuck.
“This will most definitely be an all-out disaster,” I mutter, watching as Simon Snow greets a few of the folks by the entrance. “There’s no way.”
“Oi! You’ve got to give it an honest chance, Basilton, what did we just agree to?”
“Technically, I didn’t agree to anything—”
“Just get your arse over there,” Dev shoves at my shoulders. “Try not to be such a tit, maybe you’ll actually have a good night for once.”
And then he’s gone, vanished into the crowd of drunken twenty-somethings in horrid holiday apparel.
And against my better judgement, I’m walking towards Simon Snow.

Duke Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch and Mr Simon Snow Llewellyn don't exactly get along. They met at Eton, aged thirteen, and they've been cursed by each other's presence ever since. It's as though there's a force drawing them in. A heavenly force, perhaps, like the celestial bodies they are both so keenly studying now at Oxford.
But their paths do not circle elegantly like the heliocentric model; rather, they swoop and double-back and narrowly-miss each other again and again, a tangled journey that appears to only be coiling tighter.
Towards what?
They're getting too old for this. Sniping and clawing at each other while on campus is one thing—spending time amongst respectable society in London for Christmas is another. Simon's position is too precarious, given his lack of title and his father's political enemies; Baz's position is too large not to be scrutinized, putting his secrets—and life—at risk.
