Seventeen-year-old Keith Kogane is imprisoned despite pleading not guilty. Suspecting Kogane may have been poorly represented at the trial, Judge Sam Holt assigns a trusted friend to find more evidence for the case - evidence that may support Keith's side of the story.
But there may be some people who don't want that information getting out.

(17) Shredded: The Galra demanded Lance change into their prisoner uniform. He refused. He was no prisoner. He would not wear it, that symbol of slavery. So they opted to do it for him. Painfully.
(18) Rubbed Raw: A solo mission doesn’t go according to plan and Pidge finds herself captured. She’s more embarrassed and annoyed by how it all happened than actually scared. It’s not until her rescue arrives that she realizes how bad it could have been.
(19) What Once Was Yours is Now Mine: “Mine!” the alien growled, hand tightening painfully. “Soft mine!” Keith realized three things. One, the ‘soft’ was his hair. Two, the alien really, really wanted it. And three, he was really, really in trouble.

The forest is dark with negative energy. Seeing at night is of no concern to a wolf, but darkness is not the only thing that may dim the woods. Creatures and beasts of all types live among the trees; some good, most benevolent, and a few bad. But cruelty is stronger than kindness, and the balance of the energy shifts and sways. Tonight, evil settles among the shadows, and the trees whisper warnings to heed.
Before him is a prone figure bathed in red. Shiro can’t identify their color, so he gently noses the wolf’s head aside, trying to reach the scent glands. The tilted head reveals the gore at the neck and shoulder, and Shiro flinches. A gaping bite wound is still oozing sluggishly, half the gland torn brutally. But there's a heartbeat. As the alpha returns to his human form and gently lifts the wolf, Shiro hopes that he can save the poor creature from whatever caused this horror. Maybe with Lance's help he can.

He eventually pulls away to touch Keith’s cheeks, his hair, his arms. Keith is smiling at him, a little tiredly, a little fondly. “Hello to you, too.”
Shiro slumps forward to rest his forehead against Keith’s. “I thought I’d lost you…”
“I’m right here,” Keith’s arms tighten around him fractionally.
“I swear I’ll never let you go again.”
He senses Keith’s smile. “… but what if I need to use the bathroom?”
It’s good that Keith feels better enough to joke, but Shiro just can’t find a smile for him right now. His hands curl in his shirt, bunching the coarse hospital fabric. “You don’t understand. I saw your body in Black’s cockpit and my— my whole world ended…”
“Shiro. It’s okay.” Keith pushes him away, his stare made no less intense than usual by the bandages around his head. “I’m here.”
Something breaks in Shiro. He crushes Keith to him, kissing every part of his face, ignoring Keith’s surprised chuckle. “I love you, Keith. I love you so much. You know that, right?”
