I often wish that I hadn’t ever gotten caught up in the scheme of love (Sherlock has a point, perhaps) - but wishing won’t ever change it. So here I am. I’ve written my heart out. If anyone ever reads this...Dr. John Watson, Captain, Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers, finds that writing things down is great for coping with intriguing abnormalities, his list of which includes ghosts returned from the dead, weddings, unexpected emotions, elusive older brothers, eventful family histories, problematic murders, the troublesome business of love, and anything else that may happen to find its way to the hellscape / heaven of Baker Street.
Edit: I most likely will not work on this fic any longer, as it's kind of died in my mind. Just a heads up. -

In 1915, Edgar Lee Masters published The Spoon River Anthology, a poem cycle about the fictional inhabitants of a small town describing their lives after they've died. It’s one of my favourite poetic works. This is a fusion of the BBC Sherlock characters with Masters' concept and form. It's canon compliant (sort of), on the understanding that the events of the narrative took place in the early 1900s.
Imagine, if you will, that all of the characters we know and love have now passed on. What would they tell us from beyond the grave...? -
