Summary
Helene was a slut. A whore. A despicable woman. Everyone was well aware of that fact. She was deserving of every misfortune that befell her. Of course, that didn’t make any of it any easier on her.
An original-ish story based very much on the characters of War and Peace.

Summary
Something sparked in Helene’s chest and she set her jaw. When Hippolyte had begun his study of Homer, she had always crawled into the room and begged him to teach it to her. He had let her at his notes and papers, but she had never gotten the sense that he knew what he was talking about himself, and so he had failed to teach her anything of value. Her lips moved in the memory of the shapes the unfamiliar letters had taken, but she couldn’t put them into her own tongue beyond the first few lines. She watched her brothers discuss this tongue she didn’t know, and she tried to raise her voice in to join them, but it broke. Anatole swung at the air, and Hippolyte laughed.
“I wish I were Achilles,” he crowed. -

Summary
The smell of his own house is most pleasant to Vassily Kuragin.
It’s an odd mixture of scents, but when it hits him it gives him an unmatched sense of pride only a man with his ego would appreciate. He can separate it into smaller bits, one generic one for each child—Ippolit’s paperbacks, Anatole’s pomade, Hélène’s perfume. All three intermingled as one, the smell of the Kuragin household, of home.

Summary
"What's the worst that could happen?" Natasha hummed.
Sonya has lost again. Natasha is just too persuasive sometimes, and so, Sonya takes her to a speakeasy, for just one night of what she hopes is peaceful dancing. Still, she can't shake the feeling that something is wrong -- and it only intensifies when she recognizes the singer, and the singer recognizes her. Sonya leaves in a hurry, but Natasha is dead set on them returning.
One fateful meeting later, the two of them are sucked headfirst into a world of blood, manipulation, and survival of the fittest, a world foreign to them.
So it seems.
Soon enough, Sonya realizes that she knows her way around this world much better than she'd like. And with a blood tie and a promise made years ago hanging over her back, she has a choice to make. Does she pull away and leave everyone around her dying for answers, or does she endanger herself and others dismantling something that rightfully belongs to her?
((abandoned))

“So, what songs did everyone like best?” Mary asked.
“I liked Four Friends,” muttered Pierre.
“I liked that one- Soldier and Rose!” said Marya.
“That one made me so sad,” Sonya sighed. “It was just… seeing such a devoted friendship ruined…”
Mary nodded. “They were… they were honestly BFF goals… and then…”
Ippolit huddled on the stairs. Every so often, he would poke his head out of his vest, and proclaim, “I’m fine.”

Summary
Sometimes the sky provokes epiphany but for others there is too much to do, too much life to be lived and when infinity does make itself known it is somehow remarkably unimportant. A fairy tale in reverse, and the prince and princess never get to marry however wrong it seems.
This is probably going to be one terribly long fic, Anatole/ Helene centric but with a definite side of Dolokhov, starting ten years before the opening events of War and Peace and ending after its finale. Could be regarded as AU especially in the later sections.
In relation to the tags - The MCD tag is just for canon MCD but there's for sure not gonna be a happy ending. Also I tagged for book because I'm using characters and book events that don't appear in the show and also the ending will have more of a chance of being viable in relation to book canon but I'm aware that my characterizations are more bbc than Tolstoy, hence the double - tag. :-)
