Summary
Turmoil spreads across the troubled land in Japan during the Sengoku era as disputes continue to flare over shogunal succession. If the human clans weren't warring amongst themselves, they were fighting an endless battle against the various types of demons of the youkai race aiming to take advantage of the internal discord. The few humans adept at wielding holy power stand as the only real defense against the fierce demonic race.
The wolf demons in particular have been sweeping the lands around their dens, looking to expand their territories, stealing riches and in general slaughtering human lives. The eastern pack has become especially ruthless with a new fearsome leader at the helm of it all. Several villages have fallen so far to his army and now he sets his predatory eyes on the village of Edo. What do the gods have in store for him, his pack and the wayward priestess that fate has decried should cross paths?

Summary
Riding on the strange cloud approaching the forest are two humanlike figures, one of them about a head taller than the other. As the cloud touches the ground, the two figures rush into the forest without checking their surroundings for any signs of danger.
Shen Yuan holds his breath as those two disappear into the foliage. A heavy sense of foreboding wraps around him. Normal people don’t ride on clouds so these two were either cultivators with super special skills (probably unlikely) or they were demons (very likely).
What if they were after Luo Binghe's Xin Mo?
With Xin Mo in Luo Binghe's possession, things should be smooth-sailing for Shen Yuan and his search for the rest of the Shikon Jewel fragments. But with the arrival of two strangers in Cang Qiong forest and the strange side effects of wielding Xin Mo, both Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan learn that with great power comes a whole load of trouble.

“Xin Mo is a double-edged sword, both physically and figuratively,” explains Luo Binghe as he fills Shen Yuan’s empty teacup before his own. “While it grants its owner immense power, it also destroys the owner’s sanity by preying on their mind.”
“That is correct,” concurs the flea demon. “It also gives the wielder power to travel between realms in the blink of an eye. It would be very convenient to use in the search for the rest of the Shikon Jewel fragments."
Shen Yuan returns to the other world and takes it upon himself to look for the rest of the Shikon Jewel fragments. He enlists the help of Yue Qingyuan and Luo Binghe in his search. Before they can start their mission, a demon named Meng Mo suggests Luo Binghe claims the legendary Xin Mo sword for himself. However, Xin Mo is no ordinary sword and this excursion to the Endless Abyss where the sword resides may prove to be more trouble than it's worth.
