They thought all they had left was to pick up the pieces of their hearts, but it seems Hydaelyn had one final present for her pupil and their friends.

“Ask me.” Hades repeated, growing more confident, perhaps overly so, with Hythlodaeus with him once more. “Ask me, Hythlodaeus.”

Hythlodaeus asks of his Hades a favor, to help him keep a promise made before the sundering of the world. Hades allows it. The Warrior of Light gains a few more ghosts (but that’s never been a new development now has it).

A ball is held, and, even though Hythlodaeus usually enjoys holding balls, death by boredom appears a genuine possibility. Until he spots an uninvited guest, that is.
