Summary
One day a new student joins Hikaru’s class. Fujiwara Sai is unlike anyone else he has ever met, and also the unlikeliest person to become Hikaru’s best friend, but still this happens.
As for Sai, making a friend like Hikaru is one of the best things that has ever happened to him. Once he also meets Touya Akira, his life could almost be perfect – if only he could convince his parents to allow him to become a pro go player. But he is going to need the support of all his friends when he discovers something that has been kept secret from him his entire life.

(Belated Hikago Day celebratory work! Happy May 5th anniversary Hikago)!
This is a re-post of an old A.M.V. of mine from pre-2010 Hikago fandom days.
Akira/Hikaru (pre-relationship) is the featured ship;
there is a small character focus on early Hikaru-from-Akira's-Point of View, and Hikaru's growth.
Fujiwara-no-Sai (Sai) features briefly in-between as a side support to Hikaru and as Akira's opponent early on.
Sai's backstory is referenced extremely briefly right before the final chorus.I made this when I was much younger;
as a result, during the transition into H.D. footage and Blu-ray, some quality was notably lost.
Hopefully it is still watchable in its current form.

Hikaru has become a force to reckon with ever since he came back from skipping matches for months. From almost defeating Ko Yeong Ha in Hokuto Cup to breezing through preliminaries of title matches, he was only getting stronger day by day. Strong enough that the general public was finally starting to acknowledge him as Touya Akira's rival. For the better half of the year, he had been shaking the Go world with his monstrous growth.
But still somewhere deep inside his heart, he still yearns for the friendly ghost who had taught him go. The beautiful creature who had been his everything in this desolate world only to be taken away from him before he knew it.
On the first anniversary of Sai's disappearance, Hikaru was grieving his loss when he gets an expected phone call from the Tokyo Central Hospital regarding an awakened coma patient who was suspiciously called Fujiwara Sai.
