Summary
"She could tell when Richard wanted to hurt her. It was a new look, one she’d never seen before returning from New York, but it had enough relation to other similar expressions for her to recognize it. A little of the color would drain from his face, and his jaw would tense, and… there was something in his eyes, some deeper hatred that she watched him restrain, and each time wondered why he held back."

Each rumor a bullet by word_docs_and_willowboughs for sshysmm

Summary
Notes: Genderbend of sshysmm’s Lymond Band AU. See here for a quick summary of the AU premise, and the first entry of the series for a more-involved overview of the genderbent band AU.
This is a rework of Lymond’s being captured and taken to Threave and tortured.
The background: Frances was stuck in a recording contract with the Irish mob in NYC pre-canon (galleys era); in the 70s and 80s it smuggled weapons to the IRA. Frances is framed for helping get an arms shipment out of NYC. Willa heard rumors that Frances was involved with the IRA, but didn't believe it at first. When she’s convinced (via the Dandy Hunter Rumor Mill) that it IS true, things start to devolve from there.
Turkey Mat does not die in this; he is ill, though. Like in band AU canon, he contracted HIV from heroin use in NYC in the late 70s, which Frances knows but Willa only finds out when he’s hospitalized briefly.
The title is from “Each Dollar A Bullet” by Stiff Little Fingers, because it’s Belfast punks tearing into Irish Americans paying to arm the IRA, which is… exactly what the accusations are.

Summary
"She’d had a pair of suspicions when she realized she was being followed, but as she neared the crossroads which would take her onto a larger street, sure to be more populated, one theory had taken precedence. The only people she knew of who’d be following her were criminals or police, and from what she knew, undercover police did not drive Dodge Darts with tinted windows. Mobsters, on the other hand, had favored certain vehicles enough for her to recognize them after too many close encounters."
Frances doesn't get away clean from the mob after all.

Summary
"The Lennoxes’ lavish flat had no locked doors, no guards, and no one else sharing the guest room which had become hers for the foreseeable future. If she looked out the curtained window, she could see New York City from an angle where it was all twinkling lights and distant skyscrapers, no burnt-out lightbulbs or unforgiving concrete or perpetual damp chill.
She found it completely impossible to sleep."
Frances's stay with the Lennoxes in New York after being released from jail. The events that put her there are covered in the previous part of the series.

"She needed to sing, yes — to sing, and be well turned-out, but that was hardly difficult when Patrick Ryan had paid for the little black dress and expensive makeup to impress his friends. After that, her only job was to act polite, personable and fun, and God knew she’d honed the skills necessary for those pretenses. So it really was easy, at first."
Two vignettes from an unexpected turn in Frances Crawford's American tour, via New York's Irish mob.

"By all of Margaret’s assessments, the Geneva concert had gone very well. After midnight, she’d retreated to her hotel suite ahead of Frances, who’d stayed behind at the theater with the roadies to make sure her instrument was safely packed away. There, Margaret waited for the lady of the hour to return, looking forward to an opportunity to congratulate her and collect an anticipated show of gratitude for her guidance."

Summary
Tripoli, 15 August 1551
Frances Crawford of Lymond first encounters Dragut's subordinate and lover Büyük as the man responsible for her capture on the battlefield in Tripoli, and it's far from the last time they'll meet. As not only a prisoner of war, but a onetime acquaintance of Dragut's who's recently discovered herself to be with child, he orders her confined to a seraglio to avoid any further harm in the coming months, and sends Büyük along to chaperone. While held captive in Algiers, Lymond is offered a choice to fight for Dragut on the other side of the birth, or else be confined with his women permanently.
That is before one Glenna Reid Malett reaches out to negotiate for her return—and to strike a bargain for Lymond, and for the child which will be born as property of the Empire.

"Having been two years on the ships and many before that privateering and under Barbarossa, few things either surprised or perplexed Dragut. That a girl who had, apparently, been made to look like a boy had just fallen at his feet after what looked to be a brutal flogging did both of those things."

Summary
"The small part of Lymond which had for a long time been filled with utter disgust at the life Thady Boy Ballagh lived at court told him that he was only reaping what he’d sown, in the end."
Lymond attempts to deal with the effects of nightshade poisoning alone. It doesn't go well.
