Summary
'The Slipper and the Rose' is one of my all-time favourite retellings of the Cinderella story, and possibly one of my all-time favourite films! But every time I watch it, I think to myself of all the pain that would have been caused had the story not had a happy ending.
This is just a few perspectives of a world where the King got his wish and Prince Edward married the lady of his father’s choosing.

Her little sister, Rosamund is strong and socially-connected, while Snow is withdrawn and almost always alone.
Is it any wonder that the noblewoman who becomes her stepmother is so warm, so kind, that Snow falls right into her trap?
Beaten down by years of emotional manipulation, estranged from the sister who doesn't understand how she can be so weak and so easy to use, how long before Snow reaches her breaking point? Will it even make a difference when she does?

Summary
Once upon a time, the youngest son of Odin, Loki Laufeyson, was imprisoned in the highest room of the tallest tower, ne'er to be seen again. The arrival of a stranger put everything to the test... and for a while it seemed as though they'd passed. A whole year later sees the rumour of nuptials circulating amongst the palace walls, amongst other rumours. Somebody is looking for you, somebody you thought was lost to the wind many moons ago. Adventure once again appears to be on the horizon.
However, not all is as well as it seems.
There was more than met the eye in the deal that Odin made, all those years ago. Ends were left loose and promises were not kept. Friends, both old and new, must face an enemy unlike any other as sons are forced to pay for the sins of the father. The bonds of friendship and, more importantly, of family will be tested to their limits.

One fateful day, an invitation from the castle arrives on his doorstep. With the help of his Fairy Godbro, (and perhaps a little magic), Aslan will need more than a pair of sparkly shoes if he wants to break free of his uncle's grasp, and maybe even win the heart of the gentle and kind (and dashingly cute!) Prince Eiji.

Not really, anyway. “You’re going to have to let me go,” he says, so much softer than she’s ever heard him before. His throat bobs with a harsh swallow, his dark eyes locking with hers. “You have to let me go, Sweetheart.”
She shakes her head, eyes squeezing shut tightly. Her throat goes tight, eyes itching and rimmed red. “I can’t,” she tells him. Fingers ghost against her cheek, close and cold and coaxing her to look at him again, and when she finally opens her eyes Sweet Pea smiles down at her, a broken little thing.

Summary
In the original tale, the titular baby bird was shunned for his "unattractive" appearance by his "fellow" ducks and other animals. He spent a long time enduring the mistreatment while harboring self-loathing for not being a normal duck. But in the end, the "ugly duckling" turned out to be a beautiful swan and found his place with his own kind. Too bad the characters who tormented him didn't get any comeuppance...
But this isn't the case in this dark retelling.

My own retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story (although I did like the part about Belle being an inventor).
Belle is a young girl who lives in a small town, working to teach young boys how to read and write at Sunday school. Outside of church, she works tirelessly to care for her Papa in their crumbing farmhouse as best she can. Taking any odd-job she can to make ends meet, it's no wonder that people dismiss her as what her reputation claims she is. A whore.
One day an announcement is posted up in the village square; every eligible Maiden between the ages of 16-25 shall put their name forth for special selection by the Lord and Lady of the nearby Castel Da Firenze. The conditions are that she will leave her current life behind forever. Not thinking she has a hope in Hell, Belle sends off her scroll and continues with her work.
When she is selected at the end of March no one is more shocked than Belle. However, she will only go to the castle as long as her conditions are met.How will she cope when she comes face-to-face with the truth behind the castle?
