Warlord AU.
In a modernised Eorzea, the dragons awoke to a world that had forgotten magic, and set about wreaking vengeance for their imprisonment a thousand years ago. Twenty years have passed since then, and anarchy rules the lands in the form of marauding clans of raiders.
Haurchefant Greystone is the leader of one such clan, which has taken over the abandoned fortress of Dragonhead. There, his word is law, and subject to the whims of indulgence. When a woman with no memory or voice is captured and enslaved by his men, he takes no notice until she bests one of his raiders in combat. Intrigued, Haurchefant strikes a deal: in return for his protection, she becomes his companion in every respect.
Their arrangement, as it soon turns out, will have far-reaching consequences for mortal and god alike.
