    Summary

The dwarves know that hobbits have large extended family and never talk to outsiders, they also know that they have never seen a relationship between two people of the same gender

The hobbits know that outsiders are cruel and small minded and think of them as children and that they are weak and attack them when they are different. They know that dwarves especially hate hobbits and often call them names, and that their most common nickname is halfling.

So the rule for both races is to always hide what you are

    Summary

The crown does not rest easy on Thorin's troubled brow. A new, rising star on his council has charmed Thorin's former champions while his bizarre, unwelcome overtures toward the king have made Thorin's winter without Bilbo, Fili, and Kili far more difficult than he had ever anticipated. Unaware of the extent of Thorin's difficulties, Bilbo, Fili, Kili, and Bofur are on their way to Erebor with old and new friends alike for the wedding of Princess Dís and Dwalin--and not a moment too soon for Thorin, who desperately needs his loved ones by (and on) his side.

Loyalty. Honor. A willing heart...Thorin had once said he could ask no more than that. It has never been more true.

    Summary

Third in a few one-shots/short stories that I have written about how Billa Baggins adjusts to life post-quest and the struggles that the Company of Thorin Oakenshield face as they try to understand Hobbit customs (and teach Dwarrow traditions).

Several months after "On Courses," Billa and Thorin are settling into married life—though it is not without its ups and downs with their busy schedules. Billa is also about to realize her education in terms of Dwarrow culture is quite lacking when it comes to one topic: children. When a Dwarrowdam is pregnant, she always wears a shawl with a specific pattern and symbol on it to make sure others know she is pregnant. Moreover, expecting Dwarrowdams are worshipped—Dwarrow will do anything for them and are even more overprotective due to low birth rates. We all know; however that children are far from rare in the Shire—and a shawl is a shawl, isn't it?

    Summary

After they are driven out of their home, Fíli, his brother, and their uncle find refuge in the unlikely home of two hobbits. Gandalf said they’d be safe there, but only Thorin can keep them safe.

Thorin has already lost everything. All he has left are his nephews and even now he worries that they will be lost to him as well. He doesn’t trust the hobbits, especially the female one. She seems far too interested in his nephews for his liking.

Kíli misses his mom. He knows he should be more cautious, but he likes the hobbits. He especially likes the lady one. She reminds him of his mom.

Briar never fit in the Shire. She was always too different. But maybe, her place was always meant to be in the mountains instead of hills.

Bilbo always knew his job was to protect his little sister. She was the only family he had left, after all. But family isn’t always defined by blood. Sometimes family is by choice.

    Summary

Second in a few one-shots/short stories that I have written about how Billa Baggins adjusts to life post-quest and the struggles that the Company of Thorin Oakenshield face as they try to understand Hobbit customs (and teach Dwarrow traditions).

Dwarrow are incredibly secretive when it comes to their culture, and especially their Dwarrowdams. What few outsiders know is that part of their infertility issues stems from Dwarrowdams only getting their period once or twice a year—and it’s an over the top painful thing. So, in Dwarrow law, when a Dwarrowdam has her courses, they can get away with pretty much anything but murder, aren’t expected to do anything, and any Dwarrow around them trip over themselves to do their bidding—lest they face their Dwarrowdam's wrath. For Hobbits, your courses are monthly, and Billa is quite confused why the Company is tip-toeing around her.

    Summary

When Bilbo offered his home to Thorin in the Shire, he didn't know what that entailed exactly. Only family lives together for long periods of time in the way that Bilbo wants. It's an offer from a friend mostly, for the dwarf who's lost his way in life after giving up the throne. Courting and marriage though? He'd no idea! Thorin will explain it though, eventually. Maybe.

    Summary

The halls of Erebor flourished under the reign of Thorin Oakenshield. His coronation was a welcoming ceremony to celebrate the final wave of refugees returning to the Lonely Mountain.

Bilbo, the hobbit under the mountain, is concerned with the amount of time the weary King under the Mountain is spending with a simple hobbit.

Thorin is worried Bilbo is spurning his courtship. Suddenly all the dwarves are concerned for Bilbo's happiness in Erebor.

These two idiots need to learn to communicate.

    Summary

Hobbits have not been spotted for decades near the Lonely Mountain, and rightfully so – after Bilbo Baggins’ betrayal, none were to be tolerated as free folk ever again. In fact, it was common dwarven knowledge that a hobbit found adventuring upon The Mountain could be captured at any dwarf’s discretion, and King Asami was far from just “any” dwarf.
Of course, the sheltered hobbits in Hobbiton didn't know that.

(The third of my orphaned works to be continued. Explanation in Chapter One.)

The dwarves discuss the quickly encroaching Winter, and its predicted severity. Bilbo immediately steps in to ration and handle the food distribution for those in the mountain.

Pleased that Bilbo is becoming more involved with the comings and goings of the mountain he will be calling home, the dwarves don't question his passion for the subject, because after all, Hobbits and food just go together, don't they?

AKA, the one where the Dwarves don't know the story of the Fell Winter.

Characters watch the movie type of fic because I love them and there are very few in this fandom. Over half-way done with the first movie.

Hair doesn't mean much to hobbits, unless you count the hair on their feet. It didn't occur to Bilba that dwarves might feel and think otherwise.

The lineage of Dori, Nori and Ori as well as the lineage of Bofur, Bifur and Bombur are based off ideas in the Hobbit movies. The lineage of Thorin comes from the Appendixes in LOTR.

The Hobbit characters are not mine but belong to JRR Tolkien. This story takes place after my story “Calling in a King’s Favor” though you don’t necessarily have to have read that to follow this one.

The fauntling was so small when Nori looked down at him, wide watery eyes and a poof of curly hair. He had been asked a favor, though, and by someone he owed a life debt to. He could no longer repay Belladonna, for she was long gone, but he could look after her son.

(Also known as Nori tries to adopt Bilbo and unwittingly gets his brothers involved, leading to Bilbo being inducted into the 'Ri Clan. This all amounts to Thorin getting more of a burglar than he expected.)
