“What?” She questioned “But that’s not even close to my true name?” Gazing at him in confusion, eyebrows furrowed as she watched his fingers brush against the individual petals.
“It means flower, my love. Personally I think it’s quite fitting.” He paused, handing the flower to her, fingers grazing against her own, an unreadable expression on his face.

When Ikaris was resurrected, everyone was... well it averaged out to indifferent. Sersi may have been able to forgive him, but Ikaris had made a considerable effort to try to kill Druig. He’s fished from her affection for Makkari before, and now he’s chumming the waters, with his put-upon little smile, the ironic curl of his lips. He knows she knows. He’s gotten better at restraint, keeping the moves smaller, tighter. A subtler game.
But she kills big game. They both know that.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Deviants were exterminated two hundred years ago, meaning Makkari is supposed to be content with a life all about twiddling her fingers in wait for a husband to magically appear in her lap. So she wishes for something exciting to happen.
With Mamma keeping secrets and mysterious strangers arriving at Netherfield, Makkari starts to realise that maybe she wished for too much. But once the ball is rolling, there's no way to get it back.
