I ship these two like crazy. Even by tenor/baritone standards, they are hella gay for each other. So this fic goes with the idea that they fell in love, and Carlo finding out the truth just made things even more complicated…
Partically inspired by the Munich production with Jonas Kaufmann and Ludovic Tézier, because they have amazing chemistry. Only loosely based on it, though – the characters are definitely "played" by them but the staging I imagine for this is a bit more traditional. Also, I always picture Leonora as Leontyne Price, even though she's a completely different generation than them.
