Summary
Fallen socialite David Rose only needed 24 hours, and a $1.2 million wedding, to bring one man’s love life and career to a grinding halt.
With that opener, reporter Patrick Brewer creates the legend of the Runaway Rose. A man who has left three separate partners at the altar. But having only one source (namely fiancé #2 Sebastien Raine) gets him in trouble with his editor and he decides to seek out and interview the real David Rose. If only the man was willing to talk about his past.
David’s life only has room for his business’s grand opening (date TBD) and wedding planning with his fiancé Jake. Why would he ever want to provide more tabloid fodder for some “journalist?”
Or: The Runaway Bride AU that wouldn’t leave me alone.

At this point David didn’t know if he’d ever be able to eat another slider. What was it about charred meat that made figures from the past emerge simply to fuck with his emotional stability, only to disappear once again?

“You’re so good at that,” David said. He pulled at Patrick’s shirt, pulling it up so he could press his fingers against the warm skin of Patrick’s lower back.
“Being used?” Patrick asked, his voice light.
“Helping people get what they want,” David responded, refining Patrick’s answer.

Patrick tells David about an experience he had in college that leaves David panting and leads to a conversation about them having fun with a crowd.
