Rusty thinks Danny Ocean is pretty damn hot. Maybe he’s just had one too many tonight but still. The point stands.

    Drunk shenanigans basically.

“Hey, Rusty,” said Linus, “Livingston’s asking whether– oh, Jesus Christ!”
“Some people knock before entering a room,” remarked Danny, with truly fantastic composure given how little he was wearing.

    Summary

A longform story of Lou and Debbie's friendship/relationship over nearly three decades, spanning every chance meeting, proper introduction, canon narrative plotline, and everything in between. There is something here for everyone! xoxo

In my own words, this fic is romantic in a friend-way (and eventually not just in a friend-way;), and focused heavily on playful banter and emotions.

    Summary

“You think I should have been the one to tell her?” Lou asked, eyebrows raised. “Tell the woman who hasn’t spoken to me in over four years. Who, as you know, is married to me, and doesn’t want anything to do with me. I should’ve been the one to tell her that her brother, her best friend, is dead.”

“I thought you were her best friend,” Tammy muttered.

The blonde scoffed in response. “I’m a con.”

Tammy sighed. “I don’t mean what you do for a living I mean...”

“Not a con artist,” Lou corrected herself. “A con for Debbie. No better than a fucking tourist with a bucket of quarters or a croupier.”

    “Lou,” Tammy warned.

“She convinced me that she was in love with me,” Lou hissed, locking eyes with Tammy. They were starting to water against her will. “She conned me.”

“You know that’s not true,” Tammy sympathized.

“Do I? I thought I knew her,” Lou frowned, shaking her head. Things had been so good. They had been so in love. And then it all disappeared, dragging the rug right out from under her and landing her flat on her ass, shocked and confused as to what they had built over a series of years that ran away so quickly out of nowhere. “But does anyone really know Debbie Ocean?”

    Summary

“You alright there?” A gentle voice asked as a light hand found her shoulder.

Lou turned slowly to see Dr. Ocean’s face close to hers, deep brown eyes full of concern. She had to bite down her tongue to keep from letting out a cheesy line like: Well, I am now, already wanting to smack herself for this being her first impression up close.

“Perfectly fine,” Lou smiled. “No need to worry about me, professor.”

Dr. Ocean smiled with a nod. “Do you think you’ll like the class?”

Lou was perplexed for a moment, surprised that the professor recognized her as her own student.

“I know I will,” Lou nodded. “I’ve been looking forward to being able to take your courses since I was a first-year.”

Dr. Ocean laughed softly and Lou’s heart started thumping faster, her head dizzy at the sound. She wanted to make her laugh again.

“I’ve heard great things about you, Ms. Miller. I’m looking forward to seeing your work.”

“You’ve heard about me?” Lou half-whispered, taken by surprise.

“Dr. Weil has always been impressed by your papers,” Dr. Ocean nodded again. “And Professor Kluger mentioned I should keep an eye out for you. Have you thought about applying to be my TA?”

    Summary

“You smell like him,” the blonde sighed, unable to keep from licking her lips at the sight of the brunette, just barely towering over her in stiletto pumps and a tight cocktail dress that hugged all her curves, her cleavage practically moments from spilling out.

“I’ll shower,” Debbie shrugged walking towards the bed where Lou sat waiting before reaching into her dress where she’d been not-so-secretly staring and pulling out a wad of cash. Lou’s breath hitched as she waited, watching Debbie’s sure fingers move the bundle towards Lou, tucking it in between her own cleavage as Debbie’s fingertips lingered on her vest and skin.

“Don’t,” Lou breathed, pulling Debbie in against her as the brunette fell against her lap with a giggle. “Tell me tonight’s cut,” she whispered, tugging Debbie’s hair as she moaned, the brunette leaning into her as she whispered the total in her ear.

    Summary

She was tall. Taller than Debbie even. Her platform boots clicked against the creaking splintered wooden floor, long legs hidden within tight black leather pants. An ink bottle green velvet blazer, purple crushed velvet vest peeking out. So many gold chains that Debbie couldn’t count them all if she tried. She couldn’t help looking at the blonde’s long ring-laden fingers, short black nails reaching out for a book on one of the shelves. Debbie gasped quietly to herself. Was it at all possible that this was Lou Miller?

Lou Miller, who had broken out of the indie music of the shadows and entered the rock scene after a volatile breakup with her folk singer former girlfriend? Who currently had not one, but three songs that had just gone platinum. Constantly in the news for her new sound and style, like no other, full of fury and rage and a battle between heartbreaker and heartbroken. And Debbie was pretty sure that now, the famous hands of Lou Miller that were usually wrapped around an electric guitar or gripping a microphone were gently pressing through Debbie’s book collection, a careful index finger dragging along the shelves as she read titles calmly but efficiently.

    Summary

She’d refused her call. And no, she didn’t want any fucking goldfish crackers because how the hell would that help her at this point?

Danny was dead. Darlene and Dennis may as well have been dead. And Claude Becker had ruined her fucking life. There was no one to blame but herself. No one to help but herself. What was the point of fighting any of it? She’d read the signs all wrong. She’d taken the risk. And she’d gotten conned. This is how her world worked.

She was over it all. Debbie just wanted some peace and some quiet so she could stew in her own guilt and self-pitying.

(After taking the fall for Claude Becker’s latest fraudulent dealings in the art world, Debbie finds herself on trial, bound for prison, until attorney, Lou Miller is assigned to her case.)
