    Summary

He likes being hungry. It sharpens his wits. It keeps him focussed.

Or perhaps he’s just used to it, like the cold. Set your mind straight and you can get used to anything.

    ...

My take on Hickey's character - present takes place on Terror (beginning in Greenland) with lots of morbid Victorian poverty in the form of childhood flashbacks.

ch. 56: they’ve never been tender with each other, never soft; they’re too old and have seen too much to be so sentimental. but francis is his best friend, and while he’d be happy if he ever ran off and married some proper english girl and shaped up to a proper london life, he wouldn’t ever be able to forgive him for it.

    Summary

Edward Little has a history of bad break-ups set against dramatic Arctic backdrops. The best way to avoid this happening with Jopson is, perhaps, to go to the Arctic without him - even if it means that he'll have to spend the next six months alone.

A small personal choice leads to Lieutenant Irving narrowly avoiding death by stabbing.
Unfortunately, Fate is keen to demonstrate all the other causes of death it has on a special winter discount.

    Summary

During a particular night when Francis Crozier was in a foul mood, already lost in alcoholic stewing, Jopson makes the mistake of spilling his feelings for the captain during a heated exchange which sent the Irishman in a rage that no one would ever expect from the man.

After a violent struggle halted by the help of Mr. Blanky and some of the Lieutenants, the agonizing shame of disappointing the man he cares so much for and the pain of rejection leaves Thomas Jopson a sad broken man trying to ignore his inner turmoil and continue his duties while Francis struggles to stop denying his own feeling for his young steward.

    Summary

Alpha/Beta/Omega Universe - This story is following the story of the doomed Franklin expedition as close as it can with some minor exceptions. After lots of pinning the two captains Crozier and Fitzjames found comfort in each others arms, meanwhile Jopson and Little are trying their best to hide their relationship from the rest of the Crew. Hickey is his usual evil self and Blanky is just done with everyone. After the tragic death of Sir John the crews of both Terror and Erebus have to survive the harsh arctic climate and Tuunbaq at the same time. Will they make it out of the ice or perish on the way?

(...)A loud shout startled Francis. The feather in his hand slipped and fell onto the cream coloured paper, smudging ink everywhere. The Irishman snarled as he tossed the letter into the bin next to his desk and got up to investigate what all the noise was about. The voices grew even louder when he stepped outside his cabin and almost instantly Francis knew something was off. (...)

    They were home.
England, at last. after so many years. Only a few of them, bearing witness. Bearing secrets.
Something was wrong. Something in their stomachs, in their teeth, in their mind.
They had eaten once, and they couldn't stop eating.

Or: where the crew resort to cannibalism and even once back in england, find out they cannot stop.

Addendum: The first chapter was rewritten the 23/07/2019. I apologise for the previous mistakes.
