Summary
What would have happened if Claire went through the stones at a younger age and she met Jamie when they were teenagers? This is my take on how their relationship would have developed with age and the challenges that they met.

Summary
After nearly nine years of being a widow, Claire has Jamie back in her arms and in her life. After a lifetime of stories, Brianna’s father is a real, living man. The family at Lallybroch must prepare to welcome visits from the English to check in with the former prisoner. They cannot afford any slip-ups; if Mister Malcolm is revealed to be Red Jamie, Claire’s widowhood will be restored. Permanently this time.
Claire cannot survive another pregnancy, and she and Jamie do feel that absence, a loss of sorts. Yet their little family grows in a way none of them expect.
Brianna’s illness remains an ever-present fear for Claire, and now Jamie, as he learns how to grapple with it. Can they keep a lid on it for the rest of her life?
A story of second chances, of found family, and hope in the face of fear and uncertainty.
FUTURE CONTENT WARNING: This story will contain physical abuse of a child and physical abuse of a spouse/domestic violence

Summary
“Lallybroch may no longer be yer husband’s land in name, but ye’ll always have a place here, Claire. Ye’ll always belong wi’ us.”
Claire smiled at her tearfully. “Thank you, Jenny.”
——
Right before Culloden, Jamie makes Claire promise she will be a mother to Fergus. With the deed of sasine in hand and that promise in her heart, Claire heads back to Lallybroch. There’s just one thing…she didn’t tell Jamie she was pregnant. Now, she is faced with the prospect of never getting to tell him, of having to raise their child without him. She is also faced with the dangerous reality of her high risk pregnancy. But Jamie made a promise: whatever happens, she’d never be alone again. And even without him, Claire can feel him keeping his promise through the love and comfort of his family, helping her bring their child into the world and raising her in his memory.
——
My take on “Jamie doesn’t send Claire back through the stones.” I wanted to somehow prove that even if Jamie had died at Culloden like he’d planned, Claire still would have been happier raising her child with Jamie’s family in the past than she ever would have been in the future with Frank.

Summary
They watch as Jamie presses a smacking kiss to Maggie’s chubby cheek. Beside Claire, Jenny snorts.
“He’s been like this since we were bairns,” she says, in answer to the unasked question. Her eyes roll with the fond impatience unique to siblinghood. “Touchy an’ clingy like a wee limpet. Can ye gi’ me a kiss g’night, Janet? Right after he’d announced he’d be comin’ wi’ me tae feed the chickens tomorrow lest he had tae protect me from bears along the way.”
Claire must puff out her cheeks to smother her laughter. "I'm sure Lallybroch was rife with bears," she says, and thinks that there is something inherently healing about the concept of home.

Summary
"Donas only listens t'Da," Bree takes it upon herself to inform the unwitting occupant of the passenger seat. The old, decrepit minivan makes a second and decidedly more menacing rattling noise beneath their bums, and refuses to turn on.
"Sorry about this," Claire says, and tries the ignition again. John says,
"You named your van?" sounding less concerned than he should be. But also, not without concern.
"Jamie named our van," she says.
"It means devil in Gàidhlig!" Faith adds helpfully, whilst beside her, William, in his carseat, starts humming that horrid baby shark song in tuneless three-year-old tones.

Summary
When Claire looks back on the events leading up to the Rising, she will not think of the cold, or the hunger, or the metallic tang of blood and metal ever-present against the back of her tongue. She will not think about every tragedy she tries to prevent, or the taste of desperation swelling and sticking like silt in her throat, leaving its bloody, godforsaken fingers smeared there for years to come.
She will think of an embrace, delicate as a bird’s egg in its weighty carefulness, that took place just on her other side.

Summary
Geillis, damn her devious hide, had deliberately misled Jamie by telling him that Ms. Beauchamp was “a widow touring the highlands for the first time even though she'd lived in the UK most of her adult life.” With a description like that, it was no wonder he had expected a dowdy woman in sturdy shoes who would no doubt bend his ear off talking about her six cats while knitting a scarf over afternoon tea. Whatever else she was, Claire Beauchamp, late of Oxfordshire, was not the type of woman to indulge in idle chit chat or needlework.
Lord Jesus, what had he gotten himself into?
