In 15th century Paris, we follow Yuu, a kind, gentle-soul demon bell ringer of Notre Dame, whom was nearly killed as a baby by Ferid Bathory, the Minister of Justice. But Ferid was forced by the Archdeacon of Notre Dame to raise Yuu as his own. Now a young man, Yuu is hidden from the world by Ferid in the belltower of the cathedral. But during the Festival of Fools, Yuu, cheered on by his friends Shinoa, Mitsuba, Kimizuki, and Yoichi, decides to take part in the festivities, where he meets a handsome gypsy, Mikaela and the soldier and his lovers Crowley, Chess, and Horn. The nine of them find themselves ranged against Ferid's cruelty and his attempts to destroy the home of the gypsies, the Court of Miracles. And Yuu must desperately defend both Mikaela and the very cathedral of Notre Dame.
