Xiaoshi let out a miserable hum as he moodily fiddled with the plastic top of the empty margarine tub, while reading the label on the side. "You think I should start leaving T-shirts with the newly resurrected victims that say: "I Can't Believe That I'm Not Dead!" on them, with our contact info on the back, so they can pay for revival fees?"
Lu Guang swiped the empty container from him with a roll of his eyes. "Your originality is getting soggy."
"Not like that man's body on the riverbank though," Xiaoshi immediately shot back.
A disgusted shiver rolled through both of them.

Cheng Xiaoshi had done the impossible: changing a death node. However, this does not mean that the threat has been eliminated, and the time agents have to be on their guard more than ever, as this unknown person or entity has an advanced version of Xiaoshi’s abilities. Resuming to normal life has been taxing, but they have to face reality sooner than never, as time stops for no one.

After a demon slaughters the entirety of Qiao Ling's hometown village, she returns to the ruins and finds a sole survivor: Cheng Xiaoshi. To her utter dismay, Cheng Xiaoshi's is no longer human, but a demon. Determined, she knows that he is still good at heart and refuses to have him killed or abandon him, and instead, takes him back to the community known as the Demon Slayer Corps, but the first obstacle in her way to keep Cheng Xiaoshi in the community, is nonother than the top Slayer, Lu Guang.
Surely, this professionally trained and stickler to the rules, Demon Slayer will not be swayed by this demon with the sad, gold eyes, right?

Life had its ways. Sometimes you won, sometimes you lost. In the case of Cheng Xiaoshi, he had lost a whole lot and not yet won anything. That‘s what Qiao Ling thought whenever she thought too deep, too much. She tried her best not to feel sorry for him because she knew he didn't want her pity. Not when he held still hope to get his parents back. Sometimes she felt cruel for not waking him from this illusion but how could she when he played all strong and confident, when he looked so unbothered, yet she knew how fragile he actually was.
So of course she was suspicious when the new boy appeared out of nowhere.

Her gaze flicks immediately to Lu Guang's face, trying to gauge him. He looks completely unruffled.
There's no way he was reading this— his eyes were definitely glowing! She almost never gets to see him use his powers, and here he is, just casually glowing it up? Why would he ever use his powers without Cheng Xiao Shi? He was completely, 100%, no doubt looking at a picture, she'd bet her life on it. And that tells her something else—

After the events of the season one finale, Cheng Xiaoshi is left without his partner, Lu Guang, who had been the victim of a near-fatal stabbing incident. To make matters worse, he is forced to play a deadly game with an unknown entity while Lu Guang is stuck recovering in the hospital. With Lu Guang out of the picture, Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling are forced to rely on each other to find the person behind the increasing series of murders while dealing with their hidden trauma and somehow keep the studio up and running to pay of Xiaoshi's debt.

The two boys looked at each other in disbelief; this didn’t mean anything!
