Mirabel Madrigal was many things. She was one of the Amazing Madrigals, for one. Her familia had been imbued with magical gifts, ever since her mama was a baby. That was another thing Mirabel was. She was the only Madrigal child to not get a gift when they turned five. She was the only child left in the nursery, save Antonio, and his gift ceremony was that night. Some small, selfish part of her wanted her primo to not get a gift and stay with her forever, but she knew that wouldn’t happen. Everything would be just fine. So why was she standing in a theatre she could have sworn wasn't there five seconds ago?

It was that she had to share a room with it, because since she doesn't have a door and room made special for her she is still in the Nursery. And so what she knows that another baby was born because she didn't have a gift, she didn't care.

But, as the Madrigals will learn the hard way, there are no secrets that time does not reveal.All she'd wanted was a photo of Camilo as a baby, but somehow she found herself staring at a photo of her Tía Pepa instead, the woman visibly exhausted but undeniably happy and cradling a yellow-clad baby in each arm. What caught Mirabel's attention was the unfamiliar blanket on the right; it was a pale yellow, almost beige, and patterned with dijon-coloured butterflies.
And on the back of the photograph, written in her tía's unmistakable scrawl, was the memoir: "6/03: El día que mis bebé mellizos arcoiris eligieron finalmente para saludarme. Bienvenidos a la Familia Madrigal, Camilo y Mirabel Madrigal."

Once a week he comes in, from open to close, always on the slowest day of the week.
According to her coworkers, he's bad luck Bruno, a detective with a reputation for being involved with the... unsavory crimes. But he keeps to himself, never causes problems, and spends the entire time typing away on an ancient laptop. So she gets to know him.
Knows he doesn't consider himself to be a good detective. Knows he isn't a detective but a private investigator working internationally. Knows there's always a rat or two in his pockets. Knows he's on bad terms with his family. Knows he carries a lot of guilt. Knows that really, he's harmless and wants to avoid conflict.
So despite her coworkers opinions, she thinks he just needs a friend... until he kidnaps her because she's pissed off a crime lord. And she discovers he can see the future. And that he's been searching for his daughter who was kidnapped and thinks she might be the key to finding her.
