Summary
The nature of undertakers is such that when they inevitably reach rock bottom they will begin to dig. So it's hardly surprising that desperate funeral director Rudyard Funn is relying on increasingly shoddy business practices when trying to beat his relentless rival, Eric Chapman.
Still, he may have dug himself into a hole too deep even for an undertaker when accepting this commission from Calliope's mother. Namely, to put her daughter off of becoming an undertaker herself (while also burying her uncle). And while the one thing Rudyard excels in is failing, could it be that the one time it actually matters he might just... fail at being a failure?

Summary
Sugar and spice and everything nice: that’s NOT what Rudyard Funn is made of. However, for the last few weeks, everyone but Eric Chapman seems to have forgotten that. Rudyard’s appeal as a single father has turned many heads and Rudyard can’t help but bask in the attention. However, on the day of the Piffling Vale Bake Sale, Rudyard is going to remind the village of who he truly is and perhaps remind Eric Chapman that of the reasons he’s been falling for Rudyard since before it became the popular thing to do.

To do just that, he has to take part in Mayor Desmond's "Illegal" Blackjack Tournament. But can a man who denounces even the New Year's raffle conquer the blackjack table? And can he do that with Eric Chapman and the crème de la crème of Piffling getting busy sabotaging his ministrations?

Summary
Rudyard is naturally flattered when Calliope asks him to star in her short film for a school project. But things get heated when Chapman gets involved.
‘Eric.’ Georgie turned to their rival, articulating with care like she was talking to someone experiencing a stroke in real-time. ‘You want Rudyard to play the protagonist?’
‘Yes, of course.’ He nodded with his characteristic, unshakable confidence.
‘Rudyard. As the handsome, well adjusted, relatable main character?’ Syllabized Antigone, dumbstruck. Suddenly, she remembered herself and turned to her brother. ‘No offence, Rudyard.’
‘None taken.’ Rudyard simply conceded with only the slightest hint of underlying sadness.
