The exhilaration of avenging Genos, his beloved, beautiful disciple, the fucking love of his fucked up life, was so short-lived that in the following days Saitama often doubted it was real, wondering if it's just an illusion created by his imagination instead.
In the nightmares he still can feel what had suddenly replaced the maddening joy of killing Garou, as it were a brand new sensation all over again. The shock of realizing he hasn't got the outcome he needs. The panic of being still alive, whereas Genos is not.
"And how am I supposed to die now?" Saitama asked himself back then, bewildered and helpless like a child experiencing betrayal for the first time.
