Kaminari seemed to take Izuku’s laughter as a positive thing. As did Mina. And Jirou. And Tsu, Iida, Uraraka— because soon enough, the room was filled with shaky sighs and nervous laughter and breaths of relief. And Izuku would have loved to laugh it off.
He really, truly wished he could wave this entire thing off and wipe the tears from his eyes because of how “humorous” it apparently was— but the tears he was wiping weren’t from humor— his laughter wasn’t even because he thought it was funny. It came from a sense of emptiness.
