The time where Emrys was needed the most had already passed, years before his own birth - so he makes a beeline right back to it.“Hello, Arthur” he greeted softly. The baby smiled at its name. “It’s me, your good ol' Merlin – making sure that you don’t die any horrific deaths, because you’re a prat who can’t take care of himself.” The baby made agreeing noises. Merlin huffed.
“Your Royal Highness is as eloquent as ever” he commented, lifting the babe. “Let’s take a little walk now, shall we?”
Arthur giggled.
Merlin took it as a yes.
He overstepped the body of the fainted maid. His little Arthur would have no need for such luxuries during growing up. He was going to be a people’s man, with the education befitting a prince.
He was going to be successful where Merlin’s Arthur wasn’t.
Or, what started as a one-shot and evolved into lots of small stories containing a more modern Arthur, a less exasperated Merlin, the camelotian character relevance and dying expectancy growing and much more!

I am trying my best to stay on track with what actually happens in Merlin. However, there are *huge* empty spaces in-between seasons and episodes that I cannot, as a singular human, fill properly. Expect divergence from the canonical plot, including and not limited to Lancelot being alive (because I started writing without watching Merlin for a while and—hoo boy, the death of Lancelot is earlier than I thought).

Arthur was very worried about his sister. The magical abilities she started displaying at her sixteenth birthday had suddenly amplified to a worrying extend. Every time she felt even the slightest emotion something around her exploded or caught fire. It got harder and harder to keep it a secret from everyone in the palace even with the help of his knights and Gwen. He was slowly becoming desperate at getting help for his sister but who could he trust not to tell his father about the magic within her?
Merlin didn’t know why all his friends suddenly started avoiding him and whispering behind his back but he was getting worried at Morgana’s frequent fits of magic. So far everyone seemed to find harmless explanation for her powers but how long until Uther would find out about his daughter’s powers?

Merlin may not know much, but he knows not to believe any old prophecy a dragon tells him, especially without proof. He came to Camelot to determine his own fate, not to blindly follow his supposed destiny.
He even turns down King Uther's offer to work as a servant for the insufferable Prince Arthur, but they just can't seem to stop crossing paths.
The last thing Merlin wanted while he was on his hands and knees with his head in a bush, searching for the elusive snake, was to hear Arthur's pompous voice from behind him.
"What are you doing?" scoffed the prince.
"You haven't seen a snake around here, by any chance?" asked Merlin, extracting himself from the bush with difficulty and sitting back on his heels.
"I'm sorry, one of my knights is in need of medical attention, and the physician's assistant is searching for a new pet?"

A rewrite of witch’s quickening where sorcerers actually use magic at their disposal, Morgana is not irrationally transformed into a cheap villain, Merlin gets his bamf moments as well as lots of blundering (as do the others) and the self-proclaimed messiahs do they best to fight the fight. There will be also spying birds, sentient forests and druids, because they are invested in the whole matter and want Merlin to succeed. And Arthur will start his journey into existential crisis but also prove his worth as a knight, even if he is being babysitted by bunch of people. And as always, actions have consequences.
The story is divided into two parts - the first ends with the episode with some changes, the second is (at least slightly) logical conclusion of what has happened. And then some extras.

Summary
They say not to put all your eggs in one basket, but Arthur only has one basket. He must somehow convince Camelot that Merlin - and, by extension, magic - deserves to be free on the actions of the warlock alone. Only, his subjects are difficult to sway, and his nobility harder. Meanwhile, he must battle his growing feelings for his manservant - and the fact that he doesn't only love Merlin.
In which Merlin must fess up to everything he's ever done in front of all of Camelot, and he has to hope that his good deeds outweigh his evil ones. It has all come down to this.

With Riddle officially working together with both Barty Crouch Junior and Morgause, things are growing more dangerous with every day that passes as they try to find their way to get Riddle his body back and get to Harry to cause Merlin and Morgana as much pain as they can
Thankfully, things aren't all bad as Arthur, Gwen and the knights of the round table are officially back in the game as well. After a summer of craziness as they get used to living together again, they immediately get to work to protect as many people as they can from the evil actions of Morgause and Riddle
With Dumbledore about to lose everything, surely Harry and his friends can have even a slightly more peaceful year, even with O.W.Ls around the corner, right?
