Still, the one way to cheer a person up when they were feeling down in the dumps was universal, and he’d long mastered the recipe for that.

Rinne Amagi never was much of a heavy sleeper. Over time, he had grown to lower his guard, to sleep deeper and for far longer in the comfort of his dearest friend's apartment, yet, despite his growing tranquility, there were a few disturbances that never failed to stir him from the deepest of slumbers, those being: any sort of loud banging; the chime of Hiiro's unique ringtone, even if it was seldom heard; and the hypnotizing scent of any of Niki's carefully crafted, loving cooking. This morning, he was awoken by the latter.
