Summary
Wen Qing relaxes minutely, scrutinizing him. “Then,” she asks, “why are you here, Lan-er-gongzi?”
He thinks of seven children, living here, surrounded by ghosts, fathered — fathered? — by the one who harnesses resentment to command the dead. Children he has named, inexplicably, Lan. Wen Qionglin is a fierce corpse, and yet he apparently talks and thinks and makes his own decisions. The children call him jiujiu. The children climb on his lap and ignore his instructions and say things like “he’s dead” with a careless lilt in their voices.
Whatever the Yiling Patriarch is doing, whatever Wei Wuxian wants, Lan Wangji does not think it is an act of war.
So he does not say, “I am here to neutralize the Yiling Patriarch.”
He does not say, “Sentiment is gathering against you.”
He does not say, “First liberate, second suppress, third eliminate.”
Lying is forbidden, so Lan Wangji bows his head and says something true: “The Lan sect has very recently learned of seven disciples living in Yiling. I have come to attend their education.”

Jiang Cheng and Lan WangJi....
They do NOT get along.
Even after Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi marry, even after Jiang Cheng and Wei WuXian talk with one another about everything and fix all the remaining misunderstanding, even after Wei WuXian begs his brother and husband to TRY and get along-
They do not like one another.
The one thing they both have in common is their protectiveness of Wei WuXian.
The only thing that can get them to work together is Wei WuXian- that to- if he's in danger.
So, when the two are in another one of their fights while Wei WuXian babysits- they just happen to use spiritual energy activating too many of wei wuxian's unfinished or failed tailsman and manage to find themselves back in the body of their 15 year old selves during the lectures at Cloud Recesses...it takes a while for them to stop fighting and realize what accidental chance they've been given.
And now- these two brother in laws have to work together to save their friends and family of the trauma and torture-Easier said than done.

Even though Xue Yang can’t see him, he recognizes the voice. He turns to Qing-mei and he knows it’s not her fault because she doesn’t know much about Xue Yang’s past—and that’s deliberate—so she doesn’t know who he went to high school with, doesn’t know anything about him other than their shared shitty childhood in the foster care system and their unceremonious ‘graduation’ from it, expected to pretty much fend for themselves the minute they aged out—
“You stole Song Lan’s wallet?”
“Who the fuck is that?” Qing-mei jumps up, her fight or flight clearly active and ready to go.
“He’s someone I knew in high school.” And even that doesn’t completely cover it. “We kinda hung out sometimes, I guess.”
“No,” Song Lan clarifies, his voice low and cold—but not disdainful. Like Xue Yang isn’t even worth that. “We did not hang out. You stalked Xingchen the entire time. Until you dropped out.”
The big guy’s not wrong. -

Now living in Cloud Recesses with Lan Zhan and Yuan, Wei Wuxian restlessly strives to mend his fraught relationship with his brother Jiang Cheng, raise a whole gaggle of young cultivators, and not get into too much trouble. Recently married and stuck babysitting a cantankerous brother-in-law with a ghost problem, Jiang Cheng enlists the help of the cultivators to help them discover whatever haunts the bamboo woods outside of Flower Village and put it to rest for good. But whatever it is that they're chasing might not qualify for the usual ghostly prey of a night-hunt. The haunting could be entirely more insidious than that. Memories of the past and uncovered secrets are indeed the worst kinds of ghosts. They can never be restful, only forgotten, if they're lucky. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan meet missing players in the games of their enemies that have long been buried - yet it seems their legacies remain. -

As a physician, Wen Qing has to suffer fools constantly; if Lan WangJi is determined to be Wei WuXian’s baby daddy, she wasn’t going to stop him, especially if it could save them all. And if it leads to some misunderstandings on the topic of marriage and propagation—well, it is not Wen Qing’s fault if Lan WangJi became the world’s best and worst matchmaker, making sure that children everywhere had parents.
Fic is finished at 34 chapters and about 175,000 words. But as I read through before posting chapters those numbers may fluctuate.
