“Does that mean you’re open to entertaining my offer?” And David can’t help himself, he leers at Patrick just a little bit when he says it.
Patrick blushes and laughs, “Okay, David. Let’s write a song together.”
Inspired by the movie Music & Lyrics.
- Part 1 of Fractured Rom-coms
David Rose falls off his cute huge yacht, loses his memory, and washes up in Schitt’s Creek, where he learns how to love.
This is loosely based on the movie Overboard, but if you read All the Songs I Sing Are About You, you already know I have a tendency to stray pretty far from the source material. The story is barely recognizable beyond the basic premise.
Schitt’s Creek is a small town on the water in this story, and NOTHING about the experience or treatment of amnesia in this is remotely accurate. It’s all made up, folks. Suspend your disbelief before entering.
The title comes from an episode of Schitt’s Creek. Bragging rights to the first person who figures out what episode and scene it came from.
- Part 2 of Fractured Rom-coms
After he's diagnosed with a terminal illness, Patrick blows up his entire life and goes on his dream vacation.
Story is based on the movie Last Holiday. As usual, I’ve only retained the broadest strokes of the movie plot & taken many liberties. You don't need to be familiar with the movie to read this, but I love and recommend it. Queen Latifah is amazing. This was meant to be written with alternating POV by chapters, but David, and especially Patrick, had other ideas and I let them do what they wanted. I think the POV changes are clear, though.
