  1. Ooh, this is a lovely continuation of the story - I liked the way you developed Catus, and that he never managed to become a perfect dutiful military type. And why should he, after all! I'm glad you confirmed his posting to Camelodunum.

    I liked Annius's doubts about Rome too, and the way that he diplomatically lies to the Pilus Prior - that initial section is made very entertaining by it being from his point of view!

    1. Thank you very much! Catus was really fun to write. He reminded me of Hilarion in some respects, but coarser and much less attached to any idea of duty, lol. I also didn't want to leave out the Centurion from the canon story, which is why I opened with him--and then it turned out to be a nice way to close it too.
