Comment on I Am Wearing a Mask

  1. *I took the advice : )

You have an uncommon (singular=great) pencil stroke. I like how you captured little Ben's expressions -such a child- and the minimalist style in close-ups reminds me some manga and french comic (not an expert reader but my subconscious often speak aloud).
Jeez, the mask is such an interesting idea!
Exploring fractures from childhood, Leïa like any mother, what wasn't shown...<3 I can't agree more when you talk about "tragic family"-Pedigree Skywalker included.

    1. Great eye! I have been influenced by manga and a variety of graphic novels (French, Italian, British, and American included). Thank you for the kind words about my drawing style - it's something I've spent a while refining and hybridizing. We'll see how it continues to develop!
I thought the mask could be an interesting concept to play with - how does Leia take after her father? How does she inadvertently pass this on to her son? How can a mask be good and bad? Their dynamic is so complex and its hard to really do it justice (how does a queen of justice deal with a son who is a "monster"?). But it's such a potent tragedy - you can see it in Leia/Ben/Darth Vader's dark eyes.

      1. You really can get the advantage of alternative media. Your original quality writing mirrors a vivid imagery and vice-versa.

"how does a queen of justice deal with a son who is a monster"? / "But it's such a potent tragedy - you can see it in Leia/Ben/Darth Vader's dark eyes." - Rah, exactly. By the way, I always wondered... What about a little more enigmatic relationship between monsterfather Vader & his daughter... I've missed this part.
