I was going to read through the whole thing, but we got a little sidetracked.” She takes out the copy that she knows Henry keeps in the glove compartment and finds her place. “I was offended at first that I’m supposed to be the Evil Queen, but she’s…I don’t know. She might be your most compelling character.”
“That’s what they said in the reviews. Great characters, but lacks authenticity.” Henry quotes from memory. “It was about fairytales. What kind of authenticity did they expect?”
He’s silent for a moment, and then he sighs. “But maybe they’re right. The story’s wrong. Sometimes I think there is something in the book that doesn’t quite work, and I don’t understand it. I wrote straight from my gut, and yet…”
