Obi-Wan was abandoned in a war zone with child soldiers. After peace was declared by the Young, she was again exiled. A certain Weequay happened to find this lost child and decided he was going to raise her as his pirate protégé.
20 years later, the Negotiator with her Firebird crew are legends. The Pirate Queen is known far and wide. Even Hutts don't dare cross her. The Republic would like an alliance, and send the 212th and 501st under Generals Skywalker and Jinn, the infamous former Master Padawan Duo. Cody thinks that all this fuss over a no good scoundrel is pointless. Anakin is starstruck as he is about to meet his childhood hero, and Qui-Gon can't seem to shake this foreboding feeling about the identity of this masked pirate.

Obi-Wan bit his lip, his eyes going teary again. “I think… I think staying here is the selfish choice. I think the Force is trying to tell me that there are other people who need me to be a Jetii. ”
Jaster nodded slowly, a plan already forming. “We’ve talked about a lot, and it’s a big decision,” he said, squeezing Obi-Wan’s leg once more. “Why don’t you take a few days to think about it?”
A month later, Jaster found himself on a ship with Ben and a few of his council members, bound for Coruscanta.
A resurrected Obi-Wan Kenobi finds his way to Mandalore, and the Jedi. A Mandalorian!Obi-Wan fic that will be shameless fluff with a sprinkle of angst.
Edit for new readers: Ben Kenobi and Obi-Wan Kenobi are two separate people in this story. There is only Jaster/Ben in this fic, but the Archive has some trouble knowing who Ben Kenobi is without the Obi-Wan tag. :)

In the story that we're familiar with, the story of infinite sadness, both of their individual lives ended in tragedy.
Their tales tangled first with the attempted assassination of a popular senator, then by tracking down a poison dart, before ending with a confrontation and dramatic fight on a rain slicked platform. Their accomplishments and sorrows reduced to nothing more than a brief biography of minor notable figures in that abhorrent chapter of Galactic History 101; overshadowed by those they trained.
Maybe that would have been the end of it.
Maybe they would have been two ships, passing in the night... Provided of course that those two ships were battlecruisers and firing upon each other.
However, in this dimension, in this time and in this place, they were instead ships destined to collide.
