    Summary

“I’m going to New York,” he replied impatiently. “Do you not listen?”
“Sherlock, you’re ill,” Mycroft explained. I could hear what a strain it was to keep his voice level and low. “You are not thinking clearly.”
“Nonsense,” he retorted. “John, tell him.”

In Doctor Watson’s dispatch box of unpublished writing, there is a stack that appears to be a combination of papers he wrote at different times—some of them were written during a very dark time in his life with Sherlock Holmes, and others after the event. The doctor himself explains that he felt compelled to record some of his thoughts instantly, while he was experiencing this event, and the other portions he wrote later to flesh out the story. He then apparently carefully assembled them to tell a single, chronological tale. Because of this, it is apparent that he wrote the earlier pieces before he and the detective were being openly demonstrative towards one another, and the later ones after.

The portions that he wrote during this heinous period are in pencil, which he explains, and those written later are in his familiar pen.

"When the British Museum requested my services in recovering the stolen trunk, they would not tell me what was inside, and sternly warned me that the payment would not be rendered if I opened the trunk after recovering it. I’m counting on the fee to finance a season’s worth of operas at Covent Garden, so I dare not investigate further."

    Summary

Holmes and Watson return to Baker Street after the arrest of Colonel Moran and deal with the aftermath of Holmes' dramatic return from the dead.

“I am still angry, Holmes, but I meant it when I told you this afternoon that I never was happier to see anyone in my life—dear God, I missed you so.” He smiled faintly and placed his hand over mine which still rested upon his knee; we sat in silence for what felt like a very long time. Our hands pressed together felt strange and new but yet inevitable, as if they had always been that way, and my fingers ached to grab hold of his own, to press them to my chest and hold him there forever.

A couple months ago, I was asked to write a research paper for one of my final grades in my last English course of public school. We were asked to choose a Victorian-era English novel; my teacher gave us a list, but naturally, I asked specifically for something else.

As the tags say, 'A Study in Love' delves deep into the original homo-romantic subtext, queer history references and ties, and true love demonstrated within ACD's classic tales. This is their story.
